DeAngelo Williams keeping them legs churning. He's impressive. He and Jonathan Stewart are a deadly-combo. Then with Steve Smith on the outside.
DeAngelo Williams is really coming into his own now that DeShaun Foster is off twiddling his thumbs in San Fran. The one-two punch of Williams and Stewart is so much better than Foster and Williams. Great move by Carolina to cut their losses with Foster and draft Stewart. This is a fast-paced, hard-nosed game of football. Great stuff even with Tony Kornheiser in the booth. I still think the Panthers could make the Super Bowl. They have a game against the Giants in two weeks that could decide the NFC 1 Seed.
Tampa's passing game is really coming alive now. No wonder they're 9-3: they can beat you in all phases of the game.
Never thought I'd see Tampa's defense be handled like this. The Panthers offensive line has done a great job. Williams with 144 yards (9 per) and Stewart with 115 (8.2 per). Ridiculous.
Carolina doesn't lose at home, period. And you can bet they feel the sting of that blowout to Tampa earlier in the year. Carolina could very well be the NFC 1 Seed.
I think me and you have talked about this in the pre-season and you mentioned it earlier in this thread but I think they can be a Super Bowl team. They have the ingredients to win it.
Absolutely. They have tough competition--the NFC is the stronger of the two conferences this year, IMO--but they can make it.
Is there a better Wr then Steve Smith at RAC? He simply just brushes off would be first tacklers. And I love it when Gruden starts getting the "chuckie" look..
I wanted Charles Godfrey in this last draft, he has played a solid safety for the Panthers, and man is he athletic, he strikes a blow in run support as well. Panthers took him in the 4th. And watching Ryan Kalil, he was poached right before we took Samson S last year.
That second Byrant TD may have cost me a fantasy win... maybe. But still, a great catch. What a game this is. Touchdown, DeAngelo Williams. Take that, Chucky.
D Williams was not going to be denied the td..period, he brushed off two Bucs on the way to the End Zone...
If he had a bit more open field speed, he'd be a more dominating back. Jonathan Stewart is the guy that impresses the hell out of me. Loved him at Oregon.
And with that touchdown run one of my fantasy seasons is now over. Playoffs start this week in my other one.
He had foot problems, those scare me to no end on a Rb who will be a feature back. Keith Byars took years to become a solid starter in the NFL after 4 foot surgeries..
I believe he had one turf toe injury and he came back healthy from it. He ran a 4.48 forty on a bad toe. That's impressive. He looks great out there.
Yeah, funny though, Cam and Mueller were all up in the Rainbow Warriors program prior to Draft 2007, we took Samson and Mauia, but you have to wonder if some let go scout didn't speak up for Devone Bess with all of the scouting we did on the Hawaii program. We had to have known about him from studying film on Samson and Reagan.
And McFadden was relatively healthy, now he has turf toe, and Stewart is going to the playoffs as a feature back. Scouting is not an exact science..
I really hope our offense matures into a clone of Carolina's. The ability to score at will is a scary thing. And that defense is great too. That's a 4-3 done right. Moving Julius Peppers around makes that defense tick. Jeremy Trueblood got blowed up and debacled by Peppers. What a great season this is.
Featured in a two back set, he is not in the Brad Hoover role, he is as likely to have the ball as D Williams is.
Peppers is a free agent after this season and its going to be interesting which team is willing to pay him and how much. He's an outstanding talent but the problem is that he has admitted in the past that he doesn't always have that passion to play. Sometimes he doesn't feel like going out there. He's doing good this year but that's still something that worries me especially if I'm investing big money into him. On a sidenote, DeAngelo Williams cracked the 1,000 yard mark with this game.
He's still not toking it 25 times a game though. When he's splitting carries with Williams, it will lessen his chances of getting injured. I've always defined 'feature back' as being the main guy. In this case, he's not. We may not have the same definition on this term Padre.
Probably not Alen, the NFL seems to be going to two back sets now, perhaps Rb are easier to find then 3 good Wr or a Qb?
I think that fact of NFL player pro life is what killed the West Coast Offense mania..to hard to find a Qb who can make fast reads and have the ball out. That and bad weather games.
