Bucs Find a "Vengeful" GM ----------------------------------------------- updated Jan 20, 2010 10:23 AM ET Well, that certainly didn't take long. Less than 24 hours after sending GM Mark Dominik packing, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have found a replacement. In a surprise move, the Bucs have hired Vengeful Odin, who most recently was employed by the Cincinnati Bengals. Known as pragmatist, Vengeful Odin (Or VO as he is known around the league) employed several unorthodox methods in his offseason rebuild of the moribund Bengals. This will be his first time as a solo GM, as he had the help of noted draftnik Alen1 while in Cincinnati. In a statement released by the Bucs organization, it appears there are “no plans” to shake up the coaching staff, as VO was “pleased” by the efforts of first-year coach Raheem Morris and felt that “ensuring consistency” among the coaching staff is key to the further development of the franchise. No word if that includes offensive coordinator Greg Olson, who was thrust into the role after the preseason release of Jeff Jagodzinski. Defense, long a hallmark of the Tampa franchise, is one again in transition this offseason, as former coordinator Jim Bates was released 10 games into the 2009 season. It is unknown at this time if Tampa plans to continue to run their famous Cover 2, or if they will transition to the 3-4, as Cincinnati did last season under the guidance of VO and Alen1. With the Saints the reigning bullies of the NFC South block, it will be interesting to see what direction Tampa decides to go this offseason. It’s clear, with this hiring, that they’re moving a different direction. It remains to be seen exactly what that will entail. Source: FoxSports.com
Interesting find. Great article. I think Tampa is headed in the right direction. They needed someone like Mr. Odin to come in and shake things up.
