Did you catch the Cutler talk about having a stronger arm? That was a helluva statement made by him. Very confident Quarterback he is.
Yeah I heard that a couple of weeks back. Confidence is good. Basically calling yourself the next john elway (or better than) before you've even won a super bowl is another thing.
Is that what you got out of his comment about having a stronger arm than Elway or is this a different statement he made?
That's what I got out of it. I could see me taking it a bit too far. But saying you've got a stronger arm than Elway is huge
Well it is a bold statement but Cutler does have a very strong arm. What I got out of that statement was that he just had a stronger arm than Elway and nothing more. Nothing to do with better player but I could be wrong.
We back off too easy. Question. Who comes up big defensively for the broncos? I know their offense is stellar with everyone in (I looked at the injury report and think their WRers are in which is big) but their defense is skeptical at best.
They have one of the worst defense out there IMO. I said it in Vengeful Odin's Quick Hits thread that they are the worst read and react defense I've seen in a while. This is just my opinion but I watched them read the play and then run away from the ball carrier. They are a very poor tackling team, struggle along the defensive line and in the secondary as well aside from Bailey. Bailey hasn't seen the ball his way in two weeks and has only seen 11 passes this whole year. I'm going to assume that they won't throw Bailey's way so I'll take him off the list and say it will be Elvis Dumervil. I would have said Bly but he's a horrible Cornerback.
IMO, I don't see Ellis Hobbs covering Marshall unless they go to a Cover 7 as I think we should do when we face Denver. On NE's offensive side, I'm not sure if they will make any mistakes because of how poor the Denver defense is. However, Cassell struggles with short accuracy (i.e. slants, etc) and he does turn the ball over so its not out of the question that he can have a turnover.
Yeah, just heard that as well. I don't know about them throwing it his way though. I don't trust Cassell lol.
Denver rookie , Ryan Clady, is an outstanding player at a young age. They got a really good player in the first round.
If Denvers O doesn't produce points they may be in a world of trouble this game. I don't think their D can cover the Os ***.
Calvin Lowery starting at FS? I think that's the former Titan. The Broncos should have kept Josh Barrett.
Jaws made that comparison in pre game as well. Broncs got a couple of bad breaks on that first drive. Cutler injures his finger, and Pittman got the wind knocked out of him. This is a good preview for our game in a couple of weeks. Also, I need a good game out of Cutler tonight for fantasy purposes.
He did an analysis of a rollout pass to Scheffler, noting the pass was "Elway-like" in that Cutler bombed it about 45 yards with minimal effort.
Odin, your talking about the 53 yard throw down field Cutler made on the rollout correct? Also, you watching Ryan Clady out there? He made a nice chop block then used his hands very well the play after, followed it up with blowing up the NE 'end off the line. He's going to be a tough one to face for Holliday.
Andre Hal is done for tonight. I'd be shocked if he is out there anymore. Btw, play before, on the stretch. Clady blocked beautifully.
Adamprez mentioned in a thread that Clady might be the only rook O-Lineman outplaying Long so far this year, so I'm interested in watching him. Also checking out the Denver D to get an idea of what we might do to attack it, and ways to stop Cutler defensively. He's more mobile than I remember, so it's going to be a challenge either way. Denver has looked like the better team, but they've turned the ball over, twice now. Killing Shanahan on the sideline.
Beautiful play by Bailey. First touch on a ball in two weeks. Yeah, Clady has played outstanding this year. He uses his hands so well and has a lot of upper body strength IMO. I think we have to run right up the middle against that defense and stay away from Bailey.
Bailey has to be one of the best DBs when it comes to breaking on the ball. If that's one of our CBs, it's a completion. He was excited to get some reps. Denver lucky to be down 6-0 right now.
Ya know they're getting good returns and decent drives. Towards the end instead of going forward the ball is fumbled and NE has it. They just need to finish drives.
Clady in pass-pro wasn't fooled. Defender tried a spin move on him and got nothing. Clady just kept his hands on him and slid over. On that third down, he locked up the DE and it was over.
I agree Steve. Broncos seem to hesitate when reading a play. When they finally read the play, they took a step back and then went after Morris I think it was. What is up with the step forward and step back?
