Looking sharp Hartline - probably my favorite dolphin right now. I love what Wallace said about him - "Hartline knows the rulebook 'shut up and trust me it's not a catch!' " - paraphrasing but that was a cool anecdote. Dude seems to have work ethic of steel
There are a few of us that recognized Hartline's greatness early in his career. I've said it before - one of the smartest players I've ever seen.
do you think we can trade him for some draft picks to NE... and let them give him away to the Broncos? WOAH... I didn't know that he started out as a QB in college. What a guy!
He needs to work on his strength, constantly see him lose control of the ball on the slant and when he needs to fight for position.. As far as his smarts, he can never let the corner cross him to the inside on a slant..
Things that lead me to my conclusion: -No wasted movements. Every step he takes is efficient. He isn't taking an extra step in his breaks or cuts. Makes him play faster than he is. Watch someone like Mike Wallace run a route that requires a break, and watch Hartline. Hartline usually gets it done just as fast, despite being a slower person. -His understanding of coverages. He always makes the right decisions, you don't ever see him and the QB not thinking the exact same thing. -Understanding of leverage. He will use DBs physical ability against them. He is always one step ahead in terms of setting up defensive backs. In order to be effective in that, you need to understand what the defense is doing. -Making himself an easy target. People will say he's great along the sidelines, and a big part of that is he makes himself available. He understands how to create a cushion between himself and the sideline. That comes back to understanding what defenders are trying to do within the context of the defense, and using it against them. -Technique. As good as you will ever see. I could go on, but those are some of the big things. He has a mastery of not only the offense, but the defense he is facing.
