On the bright side though, maybe its a sign that the staff knows that it wasn't the offensive system that was the problem here, but the play of the QB and O-line. There is actually nothing wrong with Henning's offense- if it is run correctly. Just look at 2008 as an example. Maybe its time Miami makes a strong push for a QB.
..... Hey Casey are you strong enough to hand me that razor blade? The stupidity of this post is overwhelming
I may be the only one this, but I think this is a good hire. Something tells me that we are going to have an explosive offense. I have no proof on this or anything like that but I just have that feeling that this time, it is going to be different.
Yeah, thats why the wildcat was introduced. Because we were marching up and down the field in 2008 with Henning's offense.
I always find this funny. People automatically assume that the 2008 offense was light years ahead of the 2010 offense. Reality shows that the 2008 Dolphins averaged 3 points more per game. However, the defense was a lot better that year. The 2010 Dolphins defense finished 14th in the league while the 2008 Dolphins defense finished 9th. Add to the fact that our defense actually caught INT's, so TO ratio was a lot better, and the 2008 Dolphins also had a superior running game, you will see why we went 11-5 rather than 7-9.
To say that with a competent QB Hennings play calling would have looked better is just wrong. Henning is a stubborn old man that expects his QB to adapt to his system instead of adapting his play calling to his talent. The reason why it worked in 08 Was because of Pennington being the right fit for Hennings system not to mention the surprise introduction of the wildcat. I just hope Daboll has a killer instinct and takes more chances along with makeing his playcalling adapt to Henne and the talent we have.
As a Browns fan I just wanted to warn you guys about Daboll. The guy is so conservative it ridiculous. Maybe it was because Mangini's philosophy was to play for field goals and keeping the game close, but his playcalling was bad. Coach Holmgren tried to give him tips but he wouldnt listen to it. Even if we went to the playoffs Holmgren wasnt bringing him back. Some times he had pretty good game plans (ie. patriots, saints, jets), but then he would completely Handcuff Colt McCoy who proved he could handle the Offense. I wouldnt give him too much credit for the success of Peyton Hillis because we have a pretty good O-line and dudes a beast. I hope this works out for you guys just letting you know what you have.
Sorry man no polishing this turd! I was on the exam table reading this and when my surgeon walked in I ask him to call Dr. Kavorkian ;-). We will be longing for Dan Henning
OH HELLS YEAH! STATUS QUO! Correction: a young Dan Henning that can chest bump Joe Thomas and not break 4 ribs and his hip.
Stupidity? What do you know? Henning's offense has been run by countless teams for years and has been very effective. I'm not saying that Henning should have stayed here. His play calling has been awful for 2 years now. I'm very happy that he has left. But the truth is that this offense has been built to run a Henning type offense. To totally change that now, and go with a WC style for example, would require a drastic change in personnel. It might just be a better idea to bring in a coach who runs a similar style offense and change a couple of the players running it, the QB in particular. Is this what they will do? Maybe, maybe not. Maybe they are just clueless or cant get anybody better. Its easy to call someone stupid and give threats behind the safety of your PC. You're a real tough guy. Save your razor for when its time to shave, probably another 10 years or so.
Umm please tell us when it has been "very" effective outside of that year with Steve Smith in Carolina.
I wasnt threatening anyone, the stupidity of your post made me lose faith in all mankind and thus would lead me to suicide. Thats the joke.
If you go back and look at that those offenses they all went stale within 3-4 years. Henning is fraud. Now we will at least get to see another OC with Henne and see if he can be salvaged from all the damage created by the previous system. Also how about a QB coach that knows how to develop a QB. David Lee has never done that. You come here throwing darts and making ridiculous statements and expect no backlash.......
Please understand that we are talking about a Henning style offense, not an offense that Dan Henning himself is running.
Well, I would immediately point out that Henning style offense is a misnomer as Henning didn't come up with the offense himself and if you're referring to an Air Coryell style offense, then yes, they have had success in the NFL. However, very rarely has that success been under Dan Henning.
Yes! No where did I ever say that Dan Henning was good! I'm saying that his type of offense can work if its run correctly! Make the distinction people
Yeah, except that's not really what you said. It might be what you meant, but it's not what you said.
The only bright side about this is the fact that there may not BE a 2011 season, so we may never have to actually see this guy coach.
WHAT THE HELL IS THIS TEAM DOING????? It's just one bad move after another. We leave Sparano twisting in the wind and then give him an extension, out of guilt for leaving him hanging. We get rid of Henning but then give the OC job to a guy whose teams are consistently in the bottom five in the NFL. Yeah we are really making progress. I am sure the Patriots and Jets are chuckling over these moves. Even the Bills are probably wondering WTF is going on in Miami. I doubt there is any team that is more poorly run than Miami. OK, maybe the Raiders, but we are a close 2nd.
Yeah but he's got one heck of a fist pump....
Give this Front Office some credit, they obviously have a plan. Luck will be our Franchise QB after next season!! Anyone know where i can get an Ireland voodoo doll please and a bag of pins?
Everybody keeps saying get Luck next year, well what if he shreads a knee or a shoulder next year? Didya ever think about that? We can't run from our problems and hope they will fix themselves, we have to sack up and fix it now.
You can't fix a gaping wound, with a band aid. You can't beat cancer with just two Tylenol. If anybody thinks Brian Daboll is the answer to Miami's offensive woes, they're simply fooling themselves.
It's pretty plain and simple.... this is Sparano telling Ross **** you and your promise to the fans that I would quit coaching scared, I'm gonna keep doing it my way.
