BCS white wigs better take notes. You can play cute little tricks as much as you want (putting Boise St. vs TCU last year), but your little elitist system is garbage.
Rooting hard for Boise......want the BCS to blow up....playoff system here we come on the backs of the blue-turfer's.
I hate Boise. They play one or two solid teams a year and cry like little babies when they aren't in the NC for beating a bunch of cupcakes. The solution for them is simple: Move to the Pac-10.
I tell you, the VT offensive design annoys me. Taylor is a good player, very good player. As the year goes on I hope they let him throw it a lot more then VT teams normally do. Its so nice to see an extremely athletic QB who uses it to throw instead of running every chance he gets. He has the mentality of a QB.
dont make me root any harder for Boise then I need to. I understand the argument, but not every good football school can fit into a conf...and many schools refuse to schedule them. A better conf could be an answer, but they should not be penalized either if they choose to stay in the NCAA conf they are in. Just like Basketball playoffs, I enjoy when a GMU or Gonzaga make their run against the big boys, and a lesser than 64 team Football playoff would still allow for simple smaller school smaller conf to kick the but of bigger school bigger conf teams. right now the BCS is just as afraid of Boise, Utah, etc as they can be. Playoff football for DIV 1 just like DIV 3 is long over due. Its not that hard, and its not about losing money, since even the Bowls could host the rounds and still get the butts in the seats. I still think a 12 team NCAA tourney could work, with bye weeks like NFL...or reduce it to 10 teams. But playoff is the answer.
You can't compare it to basketball though, because they have a tournament. So, we can blame Boise for playing it safe. If Miami can schedule Florida, Oklahoma and Ohio St. in consecutive seasons, Boise just isn't trying hard enough.
Sure, why dont we just do away with College Football all-together and create a Minor League system? Sorry, but this scenario is the WORST thing that could possibly happen. BTW: Boise State is better than at least 1/2 the teams in the Pac10 in the first place, and has been for years. Should the bottom feeders just be kicked out of the conference to make room for the Superior teams?
Wasnt trying to compare it to Basketball, outside of long overdue need for playoffs. Schedules are set years in advance....no one wanted to schedule them as unknowns....except maybe 1 or 2 schools. Then they started winning and smacking folks in the mouth in and out of conf, and now no one wants to schedule them cause they could probably kick their butt and ruin their BOWL season. Catch22. Boise isnt playing it safe...they play their conf as per the rules, and CANT FIND ANYONE out of conf willing to play them...so who is playing it safe now? Will let the field of play dictate who is good and not good, and who is avoiding whom here.
I was hoping Boise St would be unmasked tonight and get clobbered but win or lose they have proved they belong with the big boys. Having said that they are not a top 5 team IMO.Neither is VA Tech .
Man, the more I watch this VT offense the more I think its the best skill group of offensive players they have had in a long time. Taylor playing a hell of a game.
Boise St. FG kicker, and #21 CB are both letting down their school....come on young men, step it up. lost points, and missed tackles are no way to play such an important game...LOL
Boise needs a miracle....have to stop and get the ball back.....that missed FG looms large for the boys in blue...shame.
silly Bronco mistakes can still be overcome.....but they have the ball.....miracle time...1:47 and 50+ yards
One thing I will say, if VT losses this game they have only themselves to blame for going super conservative on the drive prior to this one. When you have a QB like Taylor there is no excuse for it IMO.
Yup, they had 1st down and near mid field with just over 2min...and think they didnt gain a yard, and only took like 9 sec off with those 3 plays...not good.
This has been the one thing I have hated over the years about the VT offense. They wast so many downs with super conservative calls.... Which is fine when you are playing bad teams but when you go against really quality opponents it would help a lot if you had a passing game that you trusted and actually tired to build into a point scoring machine.
4th down pass hit him right in the hands. And he dropped it. Would have been hard to get his feet down in bounds but at least catch it.
