we've talked about this ad nauseum ... that is a problem with our WR corps in general .... dominating the ball while it is in the air ...

all better passing offenses do exactly that ... go after the ball and catch it ... then worry about YAC.

i know we all want YAC, but if you don't catch the ball - you don't need YAC, and you don't move the chains.

I was glad to see Brian Hartline go up and dominate the ball on the TD in the corner of the end zone.
That was the way to do it.
We have a rookie doing what Ginn should be doing.
I give up on Ted Ginn. Did you see the route over the middle of the field where he was knocked off the route twice. He should be physical enough to overcome that.
Tedd is a push-over with hands of concrete.

Well while I'm not a Ginn fan, he did catch that pass your talking about, so he did overcome the being knocked off the route.:wink2:

Yeah he totally should have overcome that and finished out his route to make a catch.

edit: already said above, spent too long looking for a smiley

Perhaps we should show him tape from the game he played in week 17 vs the Jets? The game where he was aggressive and went after the ball.

being knocked off his route left him short of the first down marker.........so no, he didn't over come anything. He just surprised everyone by actually catching the football

Not an apologist, in fact its kind of funny to be called that since half this board calls me a Ginn hater.

Just pointing out a fact that he did catch that ball in question above. :wink2:

I meant in general everyday. Ted Ginn should be catching those balls in traffic like a man, breaking tackles and getting down the field. The guy has to think about the catch before he drops it. He gets pushed around by everyone. Hell we've seen kickers own him.

It goes back to the fact that he runs out of bounds on 75% of his kickoff returns. He's not inclined to mix it up and play physical football. He does not have the balls to be that type of receiver, never will be.

He makes the catch, he runs out of bounds or curls into the fetal position within a fraction of a second if a defender is near.

Put him on a track where there is no contact and nowhere to go but straight and he's a star.

On a football fieldl he'll never get near that.

If he can learn to redevelop his hands, that isn't the biggest knock. There are a ton of receivers who do not fight. No need to go down the list. Unfortunately, Ginn can't catch reliablly right now (judging from the replay he jumped too early).

 Ted Ginn should not be breaking tackles. Maybe avoiding them. I don't want to argue about Ginn, that's been beaten to death, I simply wanted to point out that he did the most that could be asked of him on that play.

    And by the way,

Cause of one play where he fought through contact and made a tough catch. You guys have plenty of other ammunition to use, no need to dwell on this play.

    He's not Terrell Owens--
He compares to Marvin Harrison---if he ever develops. Find me one time Starvin Marvin looked for contact, shook 4 tacklers and then stiff armed hsi way to the endzone.

Marvin was known for being a run OB reciever, and eh was one of the best.

Puss-Face Ginn needs to learn to be confident in his hands, then turn up field or OB.

Well, running out of bounds is where the comparisons stop.
Harrison was also a great route runner, had a great knack for getting open and had incredible hands......three things Ginn doesn't have

Dude, I could not have said any better than you just did. This guy is the softest player by far on the roster.A bill parcells kind of guy I think not.
He used to call terry glen she. I can't imagine what he calls ginn behind closed doors.
I was at the game on sunday and he can't even beat 1-1 coverage.

QFT---but all three of those things he can learn.

His speed kills, he can learn to run a better route (maybe Parcells should come down and knock him around a bit, maybe call Ginn She) and he can learn to catch better (not incredible though).

Only problem is, I doubt he has any desire.

If only his father could catch, or his mother could pass protect.

BTW- I hate Ginn, but I also feel more time is what he needs. I'd hate to give up on him, and he develops into a top flight reciever (Wes Welker when he was with the Chargers/Falcons, then came to us, then went to NE).

I've been hangin in there with ginn for a long time, mainly because of speed and how important that speed is for what were trying to accomplish thru the run game, however, a weakness that i always worried about inhibiting him, is the apex for his bad performance imo, and that is, his body is not made for this game...when he was crossing the field on that play, it looked like the defense knew exactly what their doing, bully the scrawny kid....
