Not signing any quality guards in free agency and then waiting till the fifth round to draft a mediocre guard prospect. Even the signing of larsen wasn't very good since he's been just a quality backup most of his career. Now he's hurt, urbik is hurt, pouncey could get hurt any minute, asiata is not looking very good. The level of negligence that the FO showed towards the interior of the offensive line this year is borderline criminal. Unbelievable,
Can't really argue with any of that. However, it's clear that Gase and company think that they have the o-line built well enough or they undervalue the OG position. Before I recommend criminally charging anybody I'll give them a few games to see if they're right. If the o-line gets our QB and RB's hurt then I'll join you in your vigilante movement and help you lynch the powers that be. lol
Really another thread about how the Offensive Line has been mismanaged??????? I guess this has become the 'Ryan Tannihill sucks" retread thread since Ryan isn't playing this year.
Until Cutler has a multiple INT game. Then the threads (and pitchforks) come out vs Cutler, and Gase for loving him... and some people will counter-argue Cutler would be great if not for the bad guards.
I'm gonna hi-jack the thread since the OP did not specify which offseason. My response is: Signing Ernest Wilford.
Biggest offseason fail for me is not signing Brees in 2006. I'm pretty confident we'd have at least one SB win had we signed Brees instead of Culpepper.
We are about to play our 3rd pre season game. How can you say something is a pre season fail before we play any regular season games? I get what your saying, OL is a concern but I still dont think you can consider something a fail until you have some kind of data to go on.
The starting o-line didn't do too bad. Tunsil had a nice whiff there, however. Lol Overall, I'm encouraged with the entire team.
Cutler would make a great white-jumpsuit, vegas Elvis. Not on topic, but it just popped into my head.
Even worse that it was the third time we passed on him. All time biggest epic hall of fame fail EVER!!! Don't know if Saban would have been successful or not. But Satans D w/ Brees and Ricky???? All hell woulda broke loose. There would be no Patsie dynasty. Think about that. call me whatever. If the Phins would have gone w/ Brees The Pasties would have never happened. I believe dat!
That is among the main reasons to loathe and despise the Irish Ginger. Along with cutting Chris Hogan when we had him and keeping a POS like Legedu Naanee instead. When we cut Naanee about 6 weeks later, he was never again on an NFL roster. Everyone knew he sucked, except Ireland, Philbo the Dildo, and Omar Kelly.
I think this kid has potential. Hope he makes it as one of our reserve backers. I'd rather keep him than use a roster spot on Maualuga, if the latter is not going to be a starter. Allen is basically the same size, speed and strength as McMillan when comparing Combine and Pro Day measures. His only sin was playing at Southern Illinois, the alma mater of Rick Spielman btw, rather than playing at a Big Ten school.
Pitts has looked really really good as a gunner on the punt team. Aikens may not have a job much longer. Pitts' performance is making him expendable.
I hear Aikens is really good on STs as well. So it comes down to who can do better as a backup in a pinch.
Aikens did well last season but has been out with a back problem (IIRC). That may be enough to give Pitts the inside track.
Ah, okay. Have been waiting a few years for Aikens to take that next step at S. I read earlier in camp he was taking reps at corner. I think he was taking to it well? Didn't know he was out.
