I figured with all the gaming guru's around here I would give my question a shot. I used to play the Battlefield series.(before Battlefield 2) I have'nt played that in a while,but I'm getting an itch again to try a newer war game. What game is the best to play on PC?
I can honestly say that Battlefield 2 still reigns bro. No other game can give you that total war feeling other than BF2. Some here may tell you COD4, but that is an arcade game. BF2 allows you to do everything and anything with all the kits available, and vehicles available. You can be a Blackhawk pilot all round everyround for example, picking squads up and inserting them into specific map locations, using it as a gunship with gunners, etc. That is just one example, but nothing compares to BF2 in my opinion.
I still play Battlefield 2, bugs and lack of good servers all. I like COD4 but for some reason I keep going back to BF2.
CC Red Alert is old but its a classic .You still see it listed as an all time favorite and you dont need a heavy graphic card to play it . I like the COD series but I dont have the graphic card to play it and I am not going to buy one because I am not into games that much.
Too bad it's has some of the bad hallmarks of an EA game. Could've been game of the decade with some better fixes.
In my mind,I was thinking that BF2 was an "old" game.I thought that maybe there were better ones that came out during the time I have'nt been playing. By the time BF2 was a available I was drained from playing the former.Kinda' glad to see it rank at the top with you gents.Thank you BTW...Do they have the on-line expansions(downloads) and such,like they did with the original Battlefield? Any other useful help for when I get BF2? Thanks again.
I think there may be 3-4 of them. There's an edition of BF2 that contains the game plus all the expansions. Though I can't seem to find many of the expansion maps on ranked servers still around. Karkand and Jalalabad are still the most popular ones.
If you are into RTS at all, then the best war game is definitely Company of Heroes. If you pick that up with the expansion, you will not regret it. I also enjoy playing COD4 and various steam games like TF2 & Day of Defeat Source.
Correct. If you are to get one expansion, get BF2:Special Forces. It is the most popular, and is needed to unlock some weapons for the standard BF2. Plus, special forces has two great maps that are played 24/7 on ranked servers, Ghost Town, and Warlord. These are the only two I play, and you will always find people filling up 64 player maps with those two.

I enjoy playing the first bf still as the mods are pretty dope IMO. I also enjoy graw and I still play the blackhawk down series. That ones always fun.
