Small note but I think actually Wallace will be playing the position Hartline manned last year while Hartline will be moving to the other wide receiver position. Hartline was used on a lot of vertical routes and those should belong to Wallace now. Also I wouldn't peg Lance Louis to start yet. Two shoes need to drop for that to happen. It all depends on 1) Louis' health coming off the ACL tear late in 2012, and 2) How hard John Jerry is willing to work to be great.
Well, he fudges the numbers to come up with 10, but its at least seven. However, some of those are internal promotions, so its not like the team has signed on a whole crew of mercenaries.
2 new LB'ers in Ellerbe & Wheeler 1 new CB to replace Smith 1 new RB in Lamar Miller 1 new T 1 new TE in Keller 1 new WR in Wallace So there is 7. Now you have to figure that our #1 draft pick will be a starter. Is it a hole at CB or T? Or is it another position? Lets assume it is another position that gets us to 8. Have to think Patterson starts over Marshall. So there is 9. Not sure who 10 is, but it could be Lance at G.
Marshall will still start, Patterson probably stays at nickel Cb and draftees/Wilson/Carrol/FA compete for the other starting Cb slot. This is one of the reasons why I mentioned we are sort of rebuilding this year and why Philbin sort of smirked about the HoF game causing the Vets to practice more prior to our preseason kicking off.
