USC is hot right now too.

They can play each other in the Sugar Bowl. Neither should appear in the national championship game.

Yeah thats pretty much what I meant.

Looks like it will be Georgia/Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl and USC/Illinois in the Rose Bowl.

Illinois? You are kidding, I rather see a 3 loss Florida team in there than Illinois . . . what the heck is going on. Does it really have to be Big 10/Pac-10 in the Rose Bowl?

What are the 10 BCS bowl teams?

OSU, LSU, UGA, Va Tech, Oklahoma, USC, West Va, Hawaii, Kansas and who? I hope not Illinois . . nothing against the Zooksters, but geez I wouldn't have thought they would be going to a BCS game.

This has been such a wacky year.
Oh and LSU will beat OSU 41-14.

I didn't say thats what I wanted. :)

I meant thats what would likely, and has, happened.

Florida was the highest ranked team not to be in the BCS. :(

So will OSU be able to break the 0-8 streak vs. the SEC with LSU having the home crowd advantage???? :)

I can't stand Holtz. Florida is young with talent and i've got no problem with that point. Just seeing him dress up and try to give "pep" talks and sounding like he's going to spit out his dentures annoys me.

LSU and Oklahoma have the best two arguements to be in the title game. It could've gone either way with them. Georgia didn't win SEC and USC was ranked too low so that eliminated them. I think Georgia and USC are playing the best football in the country.

An arguement can be made for any of those team. Though I think the team that has something to gripe about is Mizzou. From what I get out of the CFB honks that it wasn't the BCS that didn't take Mizzou it was the bowl game because they've got a choice. The Rose Bowl went with tradition but I think it's a mismatch. I think Illinois is going to lose big.

Nice post. I can't stand Holtz either. Between the spitting and the fact that nearly every school he leaves goes on immediate NCAA sanctions with him getting off every time...

Boy, every year I think we've seen the ultimate reason for a playoff, and then the next year gives us an even better reason. Such a toss up between LSU, OU, USC, and OSU/UG. Sorry for all the OSU fans who think I'm not giving them enough credit, but they lost to the best team the played this year, and that was a three loss team. I don't think OSU has a much better argument than Kansas or Mizzu, they just play in the weakest conference in the BCS.

Missouri got screwed big time. No way should Kansas have gone in front of them. Pathetic lack of common sense.

I guess the Rose Bowl just isn't going to take a SEC team. Last year LSU was ready to travel big time for that game. This year Georgia would have done the same and it would have given us a great game. Shame.

I the playoff works. This is my dream scenario that'll never happen but top 10 BCS teams. Since the schedule should matter and teams should be rewarded 1 & 2 get a bye. The plus one would help but not this year. I believe Georgia and USC would be left out.

I'm not a fan of Boeckman and LSU and USC are 1A and 1B in terms of talent. Tressel is a good coach and I think Miles sometimes lets his emotions get in the way of his thinking. He's got balls but I think Tressel is a better coach and has to put together a gameplan to atleast not embaress OSU and Big 10. Illinois is going to be out-classed and because of the conference rule of only 2 teams to a BCS game they got in ahead of Mizzou also. I get that but ASU has an arguement about not getting a look.

Ga and USC wouldn't necessarily be left out. The +1 isn't a four team playoff. What it would do is play all of the "traditional" BCS bowl games, then match up the top two rated teams left from those games for the National Championship.

Plus one is so much better than what we currently have, but an eight team playoff would be ideal IMO. There's nothing really wrong with 10 teams, other than it would only leave one week of between the conference championship games and the first week of the playoffs. Not exactly the end of the world, but pretty crappy for taking finals. Then again it doesn't stop the Big Dance.

It should be ASU and KU that are disappointed. Mizzou being left out behind UK is criminal. However, I agree about ASU. I don't get how they are left out for Illinois. The crappy explanation I heard is that the BCS was only created to match up the top two teams, and the respective bowls can choose the at large teams of their choice. Since the Rose Bowl gets first choice, they went with the traditional Big 10 team, and couldn't choose a Pac 10 team either. At that point ASU was screwed because KU, UGA, and Mizzou were all going to be picked ahead of them. That only leaves Hawaii, which is this year's Cinderella.

I'm with you on Miles. I do not think he's a top tier coach. He's had either the #1 or #2 talented teams each of the last two years, and they've under achieved. Now that can happen even with good coaching, but his in game decisions would make me livid if I were a Tigers fan.

Haters up in this thread.

Btw

Ohio St is faster than LSU according to the 40 yard dash comparison.

And here is a team comparison from Scout.

LSU Offense

Average Height: 6'2
Average Weight: 260lbs
Average 40 time: 4.78

Ohio State Offense

Average Height: 6'4
Average Weight: 266lbs
Average 40 time: 4.83

LSU Defense

Average Height: 6'2
Average Weight: 234lbs
Average 40 time: 4.65

Ohio State Defense

Average Height: 6'2
Average Weight: 237lbs
Average 40 time: 4.62

--------------------------------------------

LSU O-Line

Average Height: 6'4
Average Weight: 306lbs
Average 40 time: 5.04

Ohio State D-Line

Average Height: 6'5
Average Weight: 278lbs
Average 40 time: 4.81

VS

Ohio State O-Line

Average Height: 6'6
Average Weight: 316lbs
Average 40 time: 5.12

LSU D-Line

Average Height: 6'2
Average Weight: 287lbs
Average 40 time: 4.84

Thanks to the Ohio St forums on Scout for that.

Though I still get the feeling you think LSU is going to kill Ohio St.

Glad WVU didn't slide in there, although that allowed OSU to back there way into the big game.

Georgia didn't win there conference so I think they should automatically be out, even though they are hot right now.

USC is hot right now too.

Ouch.
