I meant purely from a standpoint of operating in Kevin Coyle's defensive scheme. They've both been better as DTs this season than Jared Odrick has been. But I think Jared Odrick helped the defense more at DE last season than Olivier Vernon has this season. I think if Miami reverted to having all 3 of them play in the base package, and eventually get Dion Jordan operating at Koa Misi's spot, the entire defense would ultimately benefit more. But yes, in their respective careers, Odrick's 2nd season was better than Starks' and Soliai's first two seasons. I agree there.
I think the deal was purposely set up so that regardless of what happens in 2013 he will be given a 2014 to get things straightened out, and it will be that point at which they make a decision about whether he needs to stay or go. Provided the Dolphins don't fire the General Manager and hire a new one, of course. At that point all bets would be off. But at 3-1, that seems unlikely.
