My first job in the industry, I was an intern. That company did design, pre-press, post, text books, web. There was about 30 employees. But one intern...sigh. Anytime anyone needed a silo, it was my job to do it. They even used to give me ridiculous ones, just for hazing purposes (like bicycles, trees, mesh). It became second nature.
I recreated the swoosh to look like a dolphin. I still need to add more features to the head, and maybe alter the colors.
Ok, I took a new direction. Darkmistress, would you be willing to give me a hint as to how you made the water effects in the site design? I kept messing around with my water design, but couldn't find yours. Just curious. Anyway, here's the new look. It's really starting to take shape.
sure, but only if you think you can handle it j/k it's really easy: search google for a water/pool image put it on top of a blue/teal layer then use one of the filters like overlay or hard light etc hope that helps
I actually quite often go to www.osalt.com. The website is basically a cross-reference of commercial products with some open-source alternatives (thus, the "osalt") and provides links to their specific websites for checking them out. For Illustrator, it provides some of the same cross-references that the Wiki does. The reason that I mention it is that the site can be used for getting open-source alternatives to a wide variety of commercial products. gish - It also may be worth checking out some of the free software or even trial versions of the commercial software to help determine if it's worth buying the full commercial package.
I was set to buy the entire CS3 package. But if you could see the desktop PC I was working on, it's easy to understand why I got a laptop instead. I got a trial for Photoshop CS2, which I currently have 16 days left on. Then in July, Adobe is bringing back trials for CS3, the entire suite. That will give me about 6 more weeks to evaluate while saving money to buy CS3. Apple.com give insane student discounts.
