As Investment, Renting Beats Owning '100% of Time'

I read this article and it really resonated with me. As a current renter and former homeowner who lost money on a home in the past, I think this article hits the nail on the head. Granted it was a limited study, but the results have some value.

Examining 250 properties around the U.S., and going through close to 40 client files to project the financial impact of owning real estate versus liquidating it, Arzaga, an adjunct professor in personal finance at the University of California at Berkeley, found that, "100 percent of the time it was better to rent, rather than own."

That's right: 100 percent.

It's definitely not an investment to make money on, especially if you take all 30 years to pay down a loan.

Some of the other people quoted in the article have a better view of home ownership IMO though.
