Well put. Couldn't agree more. Funny how much we thought Atlanta lost that day when Parcells joined our ranks.

Ethan had a great tweet today. Something to the effect of, "the Dolphins best hope is that Parcells consults for the other 31 teams in the offseason".

IMO, one of the big reasons the 2 coaches you named are having success, is that they surrounded themselves with a talented coaching staff on both sides of the ball, and on special teams. We got Nolan this past year, and we showed improvement there. I do not have to say anything on where we stand on ST and offense.

Speaking of special teams, Harbaugh was a ST's coach. And our old buddy Keith Armstrong is running a good ship in Atlanta.

If you look at those staffs, lots of former Phins coaches.

And the price of tea in China is "X".

Point being, have some perspective, 25 wins over the last 3 seasons is only bested by the early 00's Dolphins, we have gone from basket case Franchise to also ran franchise, when Saban's departure was lamented he had 15 wins in 2 seasons with a team whose avg age was 29 yrs old, this is a far younger team that played the second toughest schedule in the NFL per Football Outsiders.

Have a longer term view as "I want" or "I expected" or "I hoped" means absolutely nothing on the football field, I can lay a whole bunch of blame at the feet of Bill Parcells, one thing I cannot blame him for is not making logical football decisions..his rebuild did that in spades.

I enjoyed the article. While I think Parcells did a good job in some areas, his selection as Sparano as the head coach is problematic. I actually think Ireland deserves to stay on as the GM.

The biggest complaint I have is with Sparano and the OL. Other than Jake Long, every other player on the line is marginal and replaceable. In three seasons that's atrocious. Perhaps it's the very fact that he is an OL coach that made him somehow think he was a guru who could make the OL work without quality players. I also concur that the offensive woes are as much on Sparano as they are on Henning.

It should be noted, that several of the draft gurus on here were critical of Matt Ryan coming out of college. In Hindsight, Ryan would have been the pick.

But, there's certainly no guarantee that Ryan would be the same QB he is today were he in the hands of Sparano/Henning.

I like Tony Sparano. But, I think he has been a disaster on the offensive end.

And, I still would like to have Nolan interviewed and considered as head coach.

The sad thing from an offensive standpoint is that two of the coaches with the best potential to be OC's (Garrett and Kubiak) look like they will be retained.

In fairness I think our OL troubles over the past 3 years has had a lot more to due with injury...Smiley, Grove, Thomas, Carey, etc.

The quality of an OL is usually tied to a group of talented players able to work together to build chemistry over several years. Injuries is something coaches cannot control. Even with injuries our OL has done pretty well over the past 3 years. This year it fell apart when Carey was injured.
