That the Broncos used against the Patriots? At one time they were not only running well out of it but were 7 out of 7 passing. It had Kyle Orton coming from his "WR position" to quickly take the snap from center.
I watched the game live. It was an excellent new addition to the formation IMO. Hell I was wishing we could throw it into the playbook that night in time for the Jets game. With Orton going in motion, it put a lot of pressure on the defense in regards to re-adjustment and declaration in such a short period of time. They Orton didn't always take the snap though. They let Knowshon Moreno handle it just like Ronnie. Phil Simms was loving it, saying it was better than our Wildcat (i.e. it was evolutionary).
yea i saw it. It was a great game. btw if i remember right, one of the commentators said the wildhorse let the quarterback scan the field alot better than the regular formation. Wildcat = gives runningback better read of the defense Wildhorse = gives quarterback better read of the defense thats how i see it. IMO we should incorporate it with the Wildcat. The more wrinkle, the better.
IMO i feel we have the passing packages if we need it, but this is a power running deal this yr. so let the Broncos go. we play power football
I also saw it live and thought it was very effective. I also heard Simms comment but figured it was just an ex-QB talking. He has to eat his words after Monday night. I think a lot of these analysts like Simms and Prisco were probably hoping that the Jets would stop the Wildcat so that they could be vindicated. Sorry!
I was flipping back and forth and caught one of the plays where Orton motioned under center. I thought it was awesome. It's pretty ingenius of McDaniels to do this. It takes advantage of the fact that there are different responsibilities against the wildcat. So when the defense thinks they are prepared for the wildcat, the assignments are set. Then Orton comes in motion and everyone on the defense must change their assignments instantly to defend the pass. They got some good open looks for the TE as a result.
I wouldnt be surprised at all to see us use this some, especially against the Patsies. That young defense had no idea what to do when Orton would go in Motion.... It was almost like that old show "Thats My Line" when they would fake one person standing up then the real one would..... We actually have much better personell to run the Wildhorse with the QB going in motion IMO. Especially with both Pigpen and Pat White on the roster.....And of course, we have the real horses up front where it matters
Problem with the Wildhorse is that you don't get that extra blocker if Orton comes into the backfield. The concept behind the WC, is you replace the QB- who is useless on running plays- with an extra blocker. But if Orton comes into the backfield, its just a direct snap to the RB.
that's a great point about the extra blocker, but its not like he would be left out there every time. and if the play is run to the opposite side of the field it doesn't matter so much if there is a blocker there or not. you could have him run back and take the snap, or go in motion and take a hand off or pitch, then throw it. and if any of that is done successfully, just leaving him on the field for the wild cat and sometimes putting him in motion as a tease could cause enough confusion or hesitation to force other teams to burn time outs or just have their defense stumped and out of position a lot.
Well, regardless the guy is still drawing an assignment on the QB. He has a guy covering him in case of HB pass, or trying to get to him in case of the jet sweep lateral. On running plays the QB also gives an effort to get between the runner and the defender.
I think defenses will adjust. The thing about this formation is that it doesn't incorporate the "Ricky" aspect of the motion and sweep. Defenses will realize they only need to worry about the direct snap and plan accordingly.
The Orange uni's rock I don't know what you and others are talking about when you say that is ugly. That is beyond uncomprehensable to me.
I like it, not just because it's Miami. I like the color orange. My favorite uniform is the Chiefs home.
Generally when I say "The Orange uni's rock I don't know what you and others are talking about when you say that is ugly" I mean I don't understand how anyone can think they are ugly.
Here let me help.. They are ug - lee.. burns my eyes, makes me think of the yucs and donko's, makes the stadium look empty .. does not look like anything Dolphin and more like the U.. looks like international orange and the guys waving the flags on the highways.. DOT is thinking of copying the color.. it's brighter than those lime green fire trucks and will soon replace that too... horrid at a new level.. worse than the jests throwbacks and donko striped socks with a twist...the astronauts and jet fighter pilots have to put down their visors when passing over the stadium.. Miami International reroutes aircraft to keep pilots from going blind and crashing... the military is surrounding area 51 in this color to blind the commiesand smoopers.. it' the official color of Key WEsts Fantasy Fest...the Coast Guard is suing saying they discovered it first... someone wore an orange fins jersey into the Hadron Collider and now there is a time warp there.. awful, simply awful hope that helps
Yeah and did he say ugly! Rock on these thing are aweful but we won so hey once a yr maybe on halloween we dress as donks
I agree. I dont give a Rats-behind about what they wore....Its what they sent the Jests home in that I care about
Yeah...I watched the Denver game...and I was irked at how the commentators treated the Wildhorse. I don't think they once referred to it as a gimmick. Posted via Mobile Device
nice point kudos But hey we brought sexy back lol! Without us this copy cat league would have nothing but rex ryan and his i can stop the wildcat defense to emulate
I love how Jets fans will find ANYTHING to try and trash the team with. "Your jerseys are ugly." Seriously? I think the orange jerseys look great. Not to mention Miami is 3-0 with them. The orange inspires greatness. Who cares what a Jets fan has to say about em?
I've got a strong feeling that's the wrinkle Pat White was brought in for. Apparently Orton is comfortable enough to start doing that now. But when we can set up a dedicated Cat formation breaking Pat White to the WR slot, and give that look all the time, and actually have the threat of him blowing open the offense, it will blow open the defenses. Seeing Pat White take the snap under center has left a lot to be desired, but I think that's what is going to make this dangerous for us next year (or late this year). P White taking off into the backfield could mean he gets the pass from Ronnie, Ronnie Runs it, Ricky, or Cobbs runs it. If P White comes back off the WR spot and takes the snap, you still don't know if he's going to run it out, go for the pass, etc. I think when Pat White can effectively play all the positions we need him to play, he'll be as valuable for us as Cobbs is. That is if Thiggy doesn't beat him to the punch.
