I asked about this guy in another thread but I think it fell by the wayside. Has anyone seen much of him? He's got great size and experience playing in Virginia 3-4 (we all know the connections there). I'm not exactly a "tape guy." Not much time for it with school at the moment. So if anyone has an opinion on the guy, I would love to hear it.
He's Channing Crowder part duex. Crowder is more physical than Appleby is to be honest. He has the size, but doesn't always play up to it. Doesn't take on blockers very well; would run around blocks rather than through them. He could be a decent nickel backer for a 3-4 team because he is agile enough to get the job done. Overall he just doesn't wow you.
i not sure on him yet... but once i can speak of him, i shall i pondering into TCU Jason Phillips.... i've seen him playing for the past 2 years, and looking more into him right now!!! very instinctual but not the hugest!!!
This is one of the guys on my radar (not that it means much to be on my radar), a big ILB, started for a couple of years in a pro style defense, and he could still be on the board when our 4th round pick rolls around.
He should be on the board when we draft in the 6th round. I don't think he'd get into the 4th round this year to be honest.
That would be good news then Conu, I'd rather spend a 4th on one of those malnourished Lb's posing as Safeties this year anyway. He meets that 6'3 criteria, he's played in a ton of games, and the ILB corps in this draft is anemic.
Well, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to let Crowder walk and bring in a Crowder Jr. on a 5th or 6th round rookie salary.
