From Omar Kelly...FS Ethan Kilmer has quit the team. Another one bites the dust. And David Martin is AWOL. I suspect it's his groin. Team is not saying.
Shows what kind of intensity, and what kind of expectations this regime has. This is what TC is for. If you can't make it throught TC, how in the world you will make it though the season.
Pansy!!! j/k I think it really goes to show just how tough the staff is making it on these guys. Or maybe Kilmer has just seen the light, and realized he's not cut out for the NFL. Who knows. I don't think its a major loss for us anyways.
It is just like the Marine Corps boot camp back in 1982. You bend but don't break. Got to have the desire inside.
That is two guys who have "rung the bell" to leave.. Funny thing is, I haven't heard Sparano's camp being called "brutal" or anything coming close to that, up tempo is as close to brutal that I've heard so far. As for DMart, imho (very humble) opinion, DMart is trade bait, he's worked out enough that a Te thin team will know what they are getting, so why risk injury?
We all knew this guys wouldn't make it. They were two of the first to be voted off in Dolphin Survivor after all.
Did Ethan Kilmer at least confront Sparano about leaving, or did he just run away like the other player?
Thats incredible. These guys must be going through some intense training. Thats good. Less injuries, and the players have less trouble performing in the field. Just like the guys above said, in the military they train you so that when the time comes, you act on instinct. That instinct has been drilled into your head. And when its time, you dont think, you react. If this is the way Sparano is getting the team ready, I really feel bad for the rest of the league. They might as well put a flack jacket on the dolplin symbol on the helmet. GO Phins!
These guys didn't just quit.Sparano had a talk with them and if they didn't leave quietly they would be paid a visit.
What I find interesting about it is that we have three spots open (we are at 77, under the max of 80) and we haven't filled them. We did sign that fullback who has apparently struggled. But still, that's three opportunities and we haven't rushed to fill them. Leads one to believe that we are comfortable with the guys we have at this present moment knowing we'll need to cut down at the end of this month, a great sign!
This may not have anything to do with the guile of these particular young men. Many times guys just realize they really don't love football or they don't want to play anymore. That this is not their path in life.
It MUST BE TOUGH, either that or Ireland's been picking up guys who have no business being there. As long and closely as I've been following phins, I don't recall any TC where 2 guys just packed up and quit on their own: and this is the first week. It happens every once in a while, and for obvious reasons, its about impossible to remember their names, but 2 in a single camp, much less the first week, is unprecedented for Phins.
