Schefter was originally reporting it I believe, and he botched the Manning thing something fierce....

Great hire for KC, or anywhere really.

Reid was just in Philly for too long. No reason he won't be successful somewhere else. And KC has the #1 pick, although no great QBs coming out.

KC's personnel department is not as good as Philly's. That's one reason.

KC will be a good place to start fresh. He needs to get Bowe interested in staying now.

Hmm, interesting, Reid was used to running much of Philly, Pioli is known as a world class paranoid and control freak.

Rumor is Reid is bringing Heckert as GM, plus other Philly front office guys.

I wonder if Pioli is staying, I know he was in the interview. I heard Heckert is coming though.

KC fans are a lot like us. Most want their GM gone.

I doubt Pioli would get to hire a new HC and then immediately get fired.

Problem with Reid is that he could never find someone to run his defense once Jim Johnson passed.

True. But maybe he'll make a good choice this time. Plenty of good candidates

Andy was sure quick on the trigger to take the KC job. I wonder why he didn't at least interview with Az and SD and compare offers ?

  20. Maybe because KC is offering GM privilages to him too?

Sports radio has been out of it's mind up here, really since midway through the season.

Lotta parallels between Miami and KC. They're a year behind us, letting a coach go but keeping the GM ... and with the way Cassell regressed you have to wonder how much of an impact Todd Haley had on that team.

Also, the hot rumor is that the owner is personally committed to the GM and thinks he is the best in the business.

We're still talking KC here, not Miami.

They did what we couldn't. They didn't let the GM get in the way of the teams progress. They got the best guy out there because they let Pioli go.

1st, it's ludicrous to state so matter of factly that we let our GM get in the way of our team's progress. 2nd, I personally think Lovie Smith is a much better guy than Reid, although I am not sure either is the best guy out there.

Yeah. Sure Seth. All great teams let their coaches dictate who is GM. Always works. Its the only sure thing there is. I suspect the Chiefs will win the SB next year, just like St. Louis did this season.

Disagree. Reid's been an amazing coach for a long time. And I think he is far from being considered old or washed up. Even Shula had his losing seasons.

And it's been made obvious opportunities(Manning,Fisher,Etc) were missed because of our "front office".

Rams won more games this season, then previous 3. Broncos #1 seed. With andy reid, Chiefs become instantly relevant.

    Next point?

Lovie Smith seems to me a fairly bland coach who mainly focuses on defense. He wasn't exactly helped by Jerry Angelo, but it's not as if Smith's teams consistently overachieved. The Bears have legitimately elite talent on their roster.

Reid was about a decade ahead of his time, and possibly still is. He made some awful staff decisions, but I wonder how much of that had to do with being distracted by family problems.

Comparing the two, Reid is also more accomplished than Smith; more wins, higher winning percentage, more conference championship appearances, better quarterback handling, etc.

I don't really see how Smith is better than Reid. In fact, going by the numbers, Lovie Smith is basically Wade Phillips. I don't see anyone pushing for Wade Phillips to get another head coaching job.

We missed out on Harbaugh because of Ireland. We did NOT miss out on Fisher or Manning because of Ireland.

I'm not even sure on the Harbaugh miss, either.
