My prediction – The team struggles to get off to a good start as our brutal schedule, lack of certainty on the OL and unpredictability at RB and TE cause our offense to stutter badly to start the season. I can envision a 2-4 start for this team, which will effectively eliminate us from thinking about the playoffs by the midway point.
However, as the schedule eases I can see us making a late push, but just missing out on the wild card.
    Prediction: 9-7
Tannehill makes great progress, but like Henne we have lingering questions entering 2014. He will be the undisputed starter next year but his clutch gene will be in doubt
Ireland will remain employed if and only if he hits on 3 or more rookies. We are bleeding talent away with bad draft picks and we need Jordan, both CB’s and Sims to contribute.

I am looking at them possibly starting the season 1-4 and finishing the season 6-5. So it looks like a third 7-9 season in a row to me.

The wild card is our defense. If the D can perform at a top 5 level we could beat Atlanta and the Ravens at home. Our D needs to play like worldbeaters until our offense catches up.

Given our recent history it is also very possible we start out 0-4, getting smoked to hell at home against Atlanta then getting brutalized by New Orleans in an epic Jet-like meltdown.

I don't know if this franchise could survive another shell shocking, but I'm a little worried when I look at the early season schedule. The Ravens game by week
    5 could be meaningless

Oh, F that... dunno what the Ireland and Tannehill rambling for next season has to do with predicting the 2013 season record, and the past 2 drafts have been solid. If you're going to open a thread about a specific topic (2013 record), then stay concise and on point...

    I'll take your 9-7 and raise you 1... ;-)

Prediction: We open with a win against the Browns on the way to 10-6 and a playoff berth.

    My prediction?

    Paaaainnnnnnnnnn!!!!!

    10-6

    First Four Games 2-2

At Cleveland...we win going away 28-7. Big Prediction -- Brent Grimes Pick 6...and Dion Jordan gets 2 sacks.
At Indi .... We win 28-21. Ultimately our defense gets to Luck and again puts 7 points on the board via turnover.
Atlanta...Lose a heartbreaker 21-17. Tannehill goes 3 games with no Ints...but a costly fumble by Charles Clay late in the game seals the deal
New Orleans. We get jobbed with an obvious fumble recovery returned for a TD being called back as an incomplete pass......

our offense wont catch the defensive if we don't get better at tightend and running back . many experts are picking us to lose to Cleveland but I fail to see how when they haven't improved their wr corp .

here is how our season can end up .

#1 we start off beating Cleveland then losing the next four but if our running backs can make big plays and we can find the endzone then I see us reaching .500 but anything can go wrong especially if injuries hit us.

#2 we start off fast and hit a lull in midseason and then end up on a good note.

    #3 we start off 0-6 and finish 7- 9 or worse .

my question is will there be any changes if we finish 7-9 ? because MR. Ross will have spent 200 million and to finish -less then 9 wins sure seems like a waste of money to me.

God I hope not. I just want to remember what it
feels like to play meaningful football in December without needing an expensive calculator
to figure your slim playoff odds.

If we finish 7-9 Ireland gets fired and the new gm will probally bring in his own coach. They have to win I don't know if I can stomach rebuilding again!
I am optimistic even after a 2 year layoff I am getting directtv again for the package. However I feel this first game is a must win considering what the next 4 weeks bring.

I believe our defense has improved with upgrades Ellerbe, Wheeler, Grimes, Jordan, and ascending players Odrick, OV, Koa Misi, R Jones.

I believe our offense will be better with an improved QB and receiver unit, a pure deep speed threat and how that affects offense, we didnt have Keller last year so were not missing much in that dept..and the only change is Clabo for Martin, and Martin for Long, and Martin has improved.

The perception is we spent all kinds of crazy money on free agents..that would be wrong, we put ourselves in the situation to spend the money, there's this thing called the salary cap, we have the right to spend up to the cap...btw, were 2nd in the NFL in terms of available cap space, I repeat 2nd..

2nd years coaches means 2nd year in the scheme.

We're a top 10 team when it comes to youth..nice blend.

I think we're better at this time of the year than we were last year..

    I'll say 9 and 7..

Side note..I can't watch NFL am in the morning..Molly querim, Jamie Maggio, and Nicole in short dress are driving me crazy.

I am going to go out on a limb. While we were 7-9 last year we lost two very winnable games because of bad kicking. With improved kicking and defense and improvements in the passing game I see us two games better than what we should have been last year and optimistically suggest 11-5.

I think one could make a favorable argument that there's no way EJ Manuel and Geno smith are beating this defense..that's four wins.

10-6. Lamar Miller starts out fast, and our O starts to scare some people by midseason. Lose in the 2nd round of Playoffs.

In the luckiest season ever, the Miami Dolphins go 19-0, beating the Patriots 3 times, the Texans for the first time, and having the first quarterback with a season and postseason rating of 158.3.

CashInFist stops wearing jorts, lucky finally calls Fin D back, and Fin O becomes the head apostle of the first church of Chris Bosh.

I agree we'll be better later in the season, when this new group gets some game time together. The Cleveland game is a must-win and I know some of you don't like that term on Game 1 of the season, but when you look down the schedule, you gotta book the Clevelands on this schedule into the win column.

If they beat Cleveland, there is hope. They can beat Indy and hopefully one of either Atlanta or Baltimore whither in the humidty down here. If we can battle out 3-2 or even 2-3 going into the bye week, it looks promising that we can hit 9-7 or 10-6.

If they struggle to 1-4 or 0-5 into the Bye week, this train could de-rail fast. Momentum will be big early, we have to reach the buy 2-3 or better. I really do think the Cleveland game is a BIG game for a lot of reasons.

In the end, the O-line plagues me, and I think we go 7-9 to 9-7 depending on the Defense winning some close ones.

I think we make improvements everywhere to be honest but our schedule is tougher this year.

9-7 and we just barely miss the playoffs

The Cleveland game is big because we saw how the team started last year, and if they think their better, than their execution should reflect that, and the browns should not be able to be as good as the texans..

We must beat the Browns on Sunday. If this team is going to make a playoff push they must win their tough home
games and beat inferior road opponents like Cleveland, the Jill's and Jets

Are you sure about that statement when Ej Manuel and Geno smith/ mark Sanchez will be starting four games against us..

Our defense will suffocate those three.

    And a gimmick offense.
And a QB who couldn't throw the ball more than 10 yards.
    And an aging defense.
    And a worse secondary.
    And a worse WR corp.
    And a horrible head coach.
And an old and out of it OC.

Also, let's stop pretending the schedule is difficult. There's no way to determine how tough the schedule actually was until after the season is over.

    7-9.

Questions about the offensive line, TE, and the secondary concern me the most. Not to mention Lamar Miller is unproven and there is no depth at all behind him. Injuries can kill this team.

Well that noodle armed QB had a 97 QB rating, finished 2nd in MVP voting, and was the main reason we set an nfl record for the least amount of turnovers in a 16 game season. That combined with one of the easiest schedules in recent memory is why we won 11 games.

What separated the 2008 team from the pathetic teams of the early 2000's through today was a single component. A competent QB that knew how to lead an offense, limit turnovers, work the clock and TOP, limit turnovers and control drives to rest the D and have them fresh for the end of the game.

Pennington was the X factor in 08. It wasn't luck, it wasn't an easy schedule. It was an MVP like performance and using excuses to justify why we were good in 2008 is a disservice, IMHO to what Pennington and the team accomplished. We still had to win on the road week 16 to enter the playoffs.

Historically we look bad against running quaterbacks. Anyone have any data on how we did against "athletic" quaterbacks last year that could run? I just know we are historically bad and I think Geno/Manuel will be able to take advantage of an aggressive defense. We may split with both of them...I hope not though.
