This self-guided robotic fish was developed by computer scientists at the University of Essex in the U.K. The fish uses artificial intelligence and built-in sensors to avoid obstacles and respond to environmental changes. The fish's battery lasts for up to five hours, though the scientists hope to one day program it to search for and access a recharging station when it runs low. This work has many real-world applications, including seabed exploration, detecting leaks in oil pipelines, mine countermeasures, and improving the performance of underwater vehicles.

It's interesting, but a robotic octopus would be even more useful.

Yeah I have seen it before in robotics class. They have been working on it for years at least the one I saw. They were trying to make it swim like an actual fish using the same muscles and everything. That takes alot and alot of work. Like the robot they made walk that alone was a huge stride because of all the computations that had to go on.

Wow...the Big Dog robot was incredible! I'm stunned at how it was able to correct its balance when it slipped or was pushed!

WOW!! Not only does the "Big Dog" correct itself it does so incredibly fast. Plus the uneven terrain and the jumping. Amazing!
