I remember this cat real well Nabo: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrnaFYMxcL0"]YouTube - Creature Feature 3rd Promo[/ame] That was BC in S Florida...Before Cable...most of the time WTOG 44 would barely tune in even with tin foil on the rabbit ears..
lmao..Skipper Chuck! I used to watch it every morning before school...... There was a grand opening for a strip mall on Okeechobee Blvd here in WPB and Skipper Chuck, Scrubby, Annie and Toby the robot were there signing autographs..... Scrubby, the goofy one........took my souvenir photo of them, turned me around and put the pic on the top of my head and signed it........said "here, use your head for something"...lol Damn I was young too....it was the 60's
Oh and "Creature Feature" I remember burrowing behind my dad on the couch and peeking over his shoulder on occasion, watching it. Those dumb old movies used to scare the hell out of me when I was little.......you watch them today and it's like watching a comedy...lol

Yeah...there was one with giant leeches that stands out though. Bearer would have the dumbest jokes like lipstick on the tailpipe of Hurst.. Fun times, back then you were lucky to have 3 TV channels, and cable lines had not been laid in most of S Florida back then so that was before Sportscenter surpassed the local news sports highlights. The guy back then for the local station was Ukee Washington, and the Dolphins TV promos had Herbie Hancock's "Rockit" as the sound track.
I wish but man that Photo is long gone.......no idea what came of it... I do think I got some of me from the late 60's in one of those Fins uniforms for kids that came with shoulder pads and a helmet....I need to dig those up. Would make a good sig pic...lol
I remember back in the day with 3 channels, 4 including PBS.....cable wasn't even a dream and we had to scratch for any kind of football stats or coverage. I used to have a notebook I used to keep track of stats with on my own. Trying to keep tabs on how many yards Csonka had and stuff..... The younger generations have no idea how spoiled they are.....lol
I am old enough to remember when channel 6 started broadcasting; they had an afternoon show called The White Baron, a guy who flew around in a white biplane and presented movies. I was a member of the fan club, and I still have the card.
Yeah channel 6 was really hard to pick up from WPB.....you had to have a bad *** antenna or something. It came in, but barely.....all squigley and scratchy...lol Here...channel 5 was local and was NBC.....Channel 12 was ABC and local Channel 4 was CBS and out of Miami and didn't come in as well, a little scratchy We also got 7 (NBC) and 10 (ABC) also out of Miami. I remember it pissed me off I couldn't get channel 6.....lol
Channel 6 quickly became one of the top independent stations in the country due to their exceptional programming; they were one of the only indies outside of New York and other much larger markets to have its own news department.
Yeah it had some cool stuff that wasn't mainstream....I remember putting it on 6 and goin blind trying to make out the picture...lol Just lived a little too far away..
I was in the audience once at Skipper Chuck's show when I was a little kid. Remember the part where they would release the balloons? During a commercial break, a guy would come by with a box and collect them all.
lol......no way? I can imagine the look on the kids faces When I was little I wanted to be one of those kids in the audience. Guess it wasn't all that great after all huh?...lol
If anyone has clips of Charlie Baxter, especially with Toby, please share. I can't find any. It's more for my brother and sister, who watched that show religiously; they'd get such a kick out of seeing some clips! I did find this a while back: http://myweb.wvnet.edu/~u0e53/mtkidshows.html#charlietoby And a pretty cool drawing by someone called GG the Cartoonist, showing Charlie's characters and Miami's own WQAM D.J. legend Rick Shaw:
Good memories. I spent my first 15 years from 65 to 80 in WPB. Creature feature and Chuck were major parts of my TV fun as a kid. I miss those old classic horror flicks.
