CK pointed out, Edds wore #54 at the Senior Bowl. So he picked it.

Welcome to Miami Jared Odrick!

Can only retire so many numbers. They should be held for LEGENDS. Zach Thomas was great, but I don't hold him to the same legendary status as I do Csonka, Marino, or Griese.

Plus from what I remember in Csonka's case, didn't it only get retired like some time in the last 10 years or so? So there's still more than enough time for it to also be retired. I dunno, maybe I do hold him in that light, but I think the three that have been retired are hands down the 3 greatest players we've ever had.

Anyways, can't go crazy with retiring Jerseys like I said, there's only so many numbers out there.

Not sure how I feel about this. They technically aren't doing anyone wrong because the number isn't retired, but is a number unofficially retired in my mind.

I wonder what Thomas thinks of this...

Lets hope he can't wear it for too long.
I'm looking for a Week 3 retirement. (Our first home game)

We really need to repay the best SS this team has ever seen....Zach Thomas!
I kid...I kid.

The Cowboys gave 88 to Dez Bryant.
No one cried when Ronnie Brown was given Surtain's 23
No one cried when Culver was given Madison's 29.

If the number isnt retired, then it is up for grabs.

one of my all time favorite Dolphins.

Now that you mention that, I gotta take care of Porter as well...

Headcoach material wouldn’t want to work somewhere they’re not trusted with actual football decisions.

Edds wins a super bowl and i don't really care who wore the jersey before him.

I am one who is usually indifferent about stuff like this...but I really think JT and ZT's numbers are sacred. We aren't talking about a great player who stayed for a couple of seasons, we are talking about bonafide STARS who were drafted later, made their way through hard work, dedication and gave backa TON to this franchise and community.

Hell, often times they were better fans of this team than us. That is why you retire their numbers. No one is stumping for Surtain or Madison or anyone like that...but these two...these two should be untouchable in my mind.

Sigh...

The only #s currently available: 51 (Dobbins' # in SD), 54, 55, 98, 99.

And we added 5 LBs. Then Odrick needs a # too. Odrick's going to have to take 74 I guess because it's the only one available in the 70's (I guess he could take 61 or 62 if he wanted, Jerry will need one of these 3 as well).

The LBs can only use 50's and 90's.

2017 Dream Draft (3/17 – NFLDraftScout ~ Rankings used)

22. Zach Cunningham, LB, Vandy
54. Desmond King, S/DB, Iowa
97. Demarcus Walker, DE, FSU
166. Jermaine Eluemunor, OL, TAMU
178. George Kittle, TE, Iowa
184. Charles Walker, DT, Oklahoma
223. Aviante Collins, OL, TCU

As a tradition from way back, the organization rarely retires numbers. Has nothing to do with this current organization. I remember hearing stories about the equipment manager not giving out 78 after Webb left.

I'm fine with it. The number isn't retired. Just as long as A.J. lives up to it.

Give Odrick 99 and Misi 55

Thats my favorite number actually... 55... i'd be all over a Misi jersey...

I was saying the reason you picked #99 for Odrick is because you hate Taylor. And it's pretty obvious.

IMO, #99 and #54 should not be worn by anyone else. At least have a little respect for them.

Again, there's 5 new LBs and only 5 LB #'s currently available. 99 and 54 will have to be worn at least until some cuts are made.

LBs are not allowed #'s in the 40s unless they began their career at a position where that # were eligible to be used.

This disgusts me. Zach Thomas was an outstanding player for us for so many years and the lack of respect for him by our current regime is getting worse and worse. No matter what this kid does he will not be able to own up to that number.

Wait, so if Edds becomes a 1st ballot HOFer he will not have lived up to the #?

Wow.

As long as they don't wear it during the regular season, then I'm fine.

there's to many players on a football team to retire all the greats #s...specially considering the restrictions on #s per position
