* We could be bringing Kory Sperry back after Haynos went down with an apparent serious injury last night.

How or at the very least when? He was claimed by the Broncos after we cut him.

Is anyone else concerned about the dropped passes ?? Henne and the offense's night may not have been a lot better, but there were at least 4 drops...maybe 5...and then the officials seem to give one away to the Falcons as well on the Marshall play. I just think that too little is being made of this issue.

no, you're correct... not as many drops as the first game, but it's an issue. Hartline, Bess and I think Marshall each had drops. Fasano also tried a one handed spinneroo from Pennington, where I think he could have gone up with both hands and tried to catch it, instead of that half assed attempt.

Excellent observation, the Oline played as timid as I've ever seen that unit operate, there was not a single case of them blowing the Falcons off of the Los.

-7 drops
-2 tipped passes
-5 penalties
-20 yds rushing
-0- TD's
2 route miscommunications between Henne and Bmarsh

It was ugly all around.

I still say getting rid of justin smiley was a big mistake. I know he was injury prone but when he played he was solid in my opinion.

Didn't like this game going in, just had a bad feeling, and wanted to escape with no injury.

Iam happy though with the coaches being as vanilla as possible...I agree with their approach to the game. Is there any validity in the notion that that some of the sloppiness is due to a lack of a gameplanning?

The bad part about the game, and the rest of the preseason for that matter, is that when we just line up and play base sets, lots of individual battles, we get beat, and look sloppy doing so..

Sparano cannot be to happy right now, I know he feels accountable, and he should, he's got to get his team emotionally involved and playing with enthusiasm despite going against a huge defender...{sun life stadium}.. That place is a morgue..what a disadvantage.

We seem to be becoming a sh#@ home team, and a pretty good one on the road.....Hmmm, I wonder why?...I haven't seen the team act like their practice Tshirt proclaims..not much howlin goin on in that place.

Ronnie Brown just sees the field beautifully from the wildcat, I know he didn't gain a lot of yards, a few 3 and 4 yard runs, but damn do I love his skillset out of that formation..If I could scheme most of his runs out of the wildcat, I would.. It looks like the coaches believe in the hybrid, they dont need any reminders, lol.

Man I cant wait to watch that screen pass, burst, and finish by the Black demon..Like you said Pauly,the burst was there, and the finish was vintage ricky williams, getting lower than the defender, right at the finish {and it was low}, followed with a punishing blow..

I dont need to see any more carries from him, give him 2 weeks off and make em wanna hit some bills.

Looks like were gonna have 2 new big young receivers added to the roster, which 2, Moore and ?

Tony Mcdaniels did not dissapoint me, he caused that INT with serious inside pressure, and pure length, he plays with very good leverage and balance.. should push for PT imo, even if its on the end for Langford... Starks/MCD/Solai at Dtackle is a very strong unit...bottom line, MCD is a baller and is gonna get paid next offseason, If iam Irish, I either have to sign him, or try to get a high round pick for...in both situations, we win.

After watching this game I am more convinced than ever that we made a big mistake in the draft. We should have gone after a true 3-4 nose tackle and a good free safety in the early rounds. Our pass rush sucks the big one and our defensive backs are still very suspect.

Well, I suppose that is a possibility. We know they still have their usual "walkthrough" before the game. Now what this consists of vs a regular season game could be different. More bodies, less reps with the same personnel during this walkthrough. But one would think that the amount of training camp reps (less days off during the week) should offset that effect.

I would suggest for the Cowboys' game, if we are playing starters that they have a separate walk through from the 2nd and 3rd stringers. Treat it like a regular season game from that aspect. If you're scripting plays, have them run those plays as a group. If it's 25 plays, run those 25 plays with the first unit in the game and then get them out. Give them some confidence heading into the regular season. At least get them into a rhythm. That first game up in Buffalo... really a must win... gotta get off to a fast start this season with weeks two thru four consisting of 2009 playoff teams.

Have to agree, Starks is the best pass rusher on the starting Dline, no one else among the starters have shown the ability to create pressure from base defense, and when we went to a 4-3 (YES!) we still did not produce pressure.

Though Charles Grant was in the backfield a couple of times and they did not run any stunts or twists out of the 4 man dline.

no way I'm agreeing that we should have changed our direction in the 2010 draft though. Way to premature for that.

Exactly, I'm not a rear view mirror driver, we have who we have and they have to get the job done.

I agree with the lack of a passrush portion, which is odd as it was a lack across the board, which makes me think the Unit as the whole doesn't have their legs back under them.

More encouraging was the performance of the run defense, every unit the #1's, #2's and even the #3's held up well against the run.

Which is what we will need against the Bills on opening day.

C'mon man. The draft was a failure after 3 preseason games, really? Like Irish & co say, you can't just invent a top flight NT out of thin air. Every 3-4 team in the league had a shot at Dan Williams, Jerry Hughes etc, and they all passed until Zona and Indy took them. That should tell you something about what the pro scouts thought. If we generate consistent pass rush this year, it'll be from stunts and blitzes, with an occasional pressure from Wake and a sprinkle of sacks from Starks. That was clear just from looking at the roster. Safety will be an issue, Clemons scares me. But so does Madieu Williams, Brodney Pool, Pat Chung, Allen Ball, Darrel Stuckey and alot of other FSs on other teams. Everyone has holes except the All Pro team, and lucky for us, we don't have to play them.
