I just wanted to take a moment and write this post. It all started here at my new job, they are holding a Christmas door decoration contest for the Holidays with a prize being given to the best decorated door. I myself have never done this, and I pondered as I watch others putting up what I considered “typical” Christmas decorations, what should I do. I thought back to my time in Iraq and how we carried the Christmas spirit over there. We decorated whatever we could, with what we had. Some people even got those little one foot high fake trees with lights and we put those up. I remember the warm feelings and the comradely we all felt in the middle of a war.

That led to my idea, I am going to gather the pictures from Iraq that were taken during Christmas, and print them out and decorate my door with them. Working in the Wounded Warrior assistance center, I think it fits well, touching home to many of the Soldiers we see here, knowing that they have a strong chance to relate.

I also thought about the men and women still serving overseas, far from home. I wanted to give a shout out to them, as well as all those past and present who have served this great Nation. Merry Christmas to you all, may you find warmth in the coldness of war, peace in the chaos, friendship with in the hatred.

I also want to wish a Merry Christmas to all of you, may you enjoy the time with your loved ones, have everything you need, and most of what you want.

    Cheers, man.

Every Christmas I think about my brothers & sisters overseas. For me, Christmas was always the hardest holiday to be away from home.
