Considering our 3-3 record now, and very solid play, our awesome rookie QB, and our calm, bright head coach who seems to have taken control of this team, I thought it might be a good time to remind everyone ..... ...... The Preseason Means NOTHING!!! At least in terms of how the team will perform in the regular season. Let's all just remember that next year ... and the year after that and the year after that and ....
Even though it's true the preseason isn't a great barometer of when the regular season starts, I'll admit, after this past preseason, I was worried.
Well, in all my years of following the Phins, I KNEW the wins / losses meant nothing, but since I've had the ability to WATCH preseason games, which is really only since around 97-99 or so, the games at least suggested what team strengths and weaknesses would be. Not this year, not in any way. Philpin tells us after the start of regular season that it was due to the QB competition, so this really was an aberration, but I had no clue that we would have such a good OL and running game.
Does nobody remember the 0-16 rams went 4-0 in the preseason. The Manning manned Colts were also consistently poor in the preseason.
Marino used to stink it up in the preseason.. it was a time to shake the rust of and get warmed up for the season.
