While working on a thread of the top mockers in the Club Lounge I noticed one of them did a mock draft WITH trades. What made this interesting is the firestorm of debate this would cause with the fanbase. http://www.mockingthedraft.com/2012/4/21/2965591/mock-draft-round-1-version-2-0 (scroll down...first one is without trades). Myself I would LOVE if this happened. Miami could still go for Weeden without it being a risk whatsoever because of all the extra draft picks they could trade up to get Weeden and even if he doesn't work out..have enough firepower next year to trade up high for a QB.
As long as we get Weeden, I don't give a rats *** what the majority of this fanbase thinks, I think he's the better Qb, and that's what it should be about..if you wanna do the right thing, trade down, take Floyd/Fleener with your first, use the extra ammo to get back in the first and nab Weeden, Russell Wilson is damn good enough to be your backup plan if Weeden goes early..
Bingo.... sure I like Tannehill and all but Weeden is the business, Floyd and Weeden and im happy as hell, lets goooo!!! If that happened and we somehow grabbed vinny curry
I think an offensive combination that doesn't involve lineman like Weeden/Floyd or Weeden/Fleener, would shut the fanbase up for a bit as well, wanna shut them up for a Good while?, double up on the position and grab Russell Wilson in the fourth, then Wtf are they gonna say..
Why the **** would Denver trade up for Ryan Tannehill when they just got Peyton Manning? "Top Mockers" - hell, anyone can guess. Seems like everyone this time of year is a know-it-all, but the reality is no one knows ****.
Exactly makes no sense they would draft Tannehill. Its more likely they would target Osweiler at some point. Unless they really value Cox or DeCastro I don't see them trading up all the way to 8. They signed Peyton so they're going to be getting someone they feel can come in and contribute right away.
I see all win in that scenario, cept I agree I would take Fleener or even an Lineman (Maybe Kontz) instead of Mercilus. Screw getting the QB this year. That would leave us with 2 first rounders next year, in a year where there will probably be 5 QB's that are much better prospects than Tannehill or even Weeden. Load up for bear this season, then with 2 first's next year, go after the bear of your choice...my preference would be a Bear in Trojan clothing....
Neck fusion on a 36 year old QB is nothing to go into a season with without a even remotely competent backup.
Well, I got one for you guys. First and foremost, love P-Manning and everything he has ever done. Not a classier guy or better QB when he was healthy, BUT, I think there are still lots of question marks abound about his health. My wife had the same surgery he has gone through. I have seen the xrays and been talked to ad naseum about the possible side affects. That's some pretty damn serious stuff his body is dealing with, not to mention the amount of pounding he is gonna take. I'm not suggesting he's a china doll, but damn, they certainly put all their eggs in one fragile basket IMHO. One blind sided shot, and they could easily be picking 1st overall next year. I mean, Caleb Hainey? That being said, the still have multiple places to shore up. IF Blackmon should fall, I could easily see them trading up to 8 for him as well.....in fact, true Irony: What if we did trade back to 25, I'm more than willing to suggest that Tannehill might still be on the board...and we might easily still pass him by in lieu of Fleener or somebody else.......
I honestly don't know that a QB has ever played in the NFL with a disk fusion in place...actually, not sure anybody has ever played in the NFL after having a plate screwed into two vertebrae?
I personally think Lane Kiffin is a grade-A asshat.....but I would take a certain QB off his hands at the drop of a hat
Not like Tannehill could start. They signed Hanie they must think he can be a quality back up. I think they draft a QB I just doubt its Tannehill.
I think we must upgrade the athleticism on every unit, and tbh, I think the trade backs we have done so far have not panned out well enough so I would just prefer staying at 8 and adding a premium athlete.
if they want to do something like this an concentrate on Weeden, they'll have to get in there before KC or Cleveland. Weeden's not lasting past those two teams.
Not only that, but why would they give away picks that they could use to put playmakers around Manning. They know they have a short window with him.... I'm not saying that a trade down is out of the question, but I do question Denver as being that partner...
Honestly I would avoid Mercilus....one year wonder in a year of shallow talent in the big 10....how many big 10 players are going in the first round this year? Not many..... Maybe a couple.
How about this one for polarizing: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1157471-miami-dolphins-2012-mock-draft-final-7-round-predictions I could live with this if we either took Keuchly or traded back and got Weeden in lieu of Couples
^^This. Denver is in win now mode. They need all the picks they can get and good quality players as well. They know Manning only has a few years left.
I like that draft also...Ireland was asked in the last interview I saw about would he take a player who had a questionable motor like most of the media is saying about Quentin. He basically said if he did his due diligence about a player and their was any question about his work ethic/motor what so ever he wouldn't even consider taking that player at all. I don't know how over blown that is or whatever but we'll see.
I just don't see the Broncos moving up to take Tannehill. If they want a young QB to sit behind Manning for a few years, they can merely take Cousins in the second or third round. They would be getting a QB who is rated close to Tannehill and it won't cost the Broncos any of their draft picks.
I have Mercilus rated as the top pass rusher in this draft so even though I love Tannehill and realize we really need a QB, thats a scenario I can definitely work with. I would really dispute the notion that hes simply a one year wonder. You could have made the same argument about JPP two years ago..how'd that work out. Mercilus is explosive and can still add a few pounds on his frame. Hes a player I can certainly see Jeff Ireland liking. You arent a fluke when you lead the country in sacks, forced fumbles, and combined sacks-hits-pressures vs some of the best competition. That my friends is called dominance.
I can see Denver loading up on OL to protect Manning. They better put a brick wall in front of him, because you know defenses are going to be going all out to get to him bounty or not. I just don't see Denver trading away next years first rounder to trade up and get Tannehill. I think a more realistic trade would be trading with Cleveland. Them getting our pick #8 and us getting their #22 plus maybe a second rounder and maybe one of their 4th round picks. That would give us two second, two 3rds and two 4ths and we would still have a first rounder in the top 25 picks. Thats assuming they take Richardson or another top 10 pick with their first pick in the first round and then coming back at #8 to get Tannehill.
The scenario my brain is leaning towards is, R1 - take Kuechly at 8, then somehow trade back up into the second half (say 20-something) of the first and get Weedon if he is still there! Secondly, receiver. I'm not sure why everyone is giving up so easily on Roberto Wallace becoming a solid receiver. I think he will!
Weeden was tied with Barkley in my book as the second best QB prospect this year, before Barkley went back to USC.
http://www.thehuddlereport.com/Free/mockdraftscoring.shtml Dan Kadar was tied for 5th best mock last year. He was also 9th in the 5 year average thanks to a killer last 2 years. While I love the Universal Draft guys they only placed 79th to Boomer's 92nd.
If we came away from this draft with Floyd/weeden/curry idc if those are the only three people we draft.. I'd be happy as a pig in sh*t
