But our defense last year was good enough to handle the offenses we will play next year. We have to believe that our defense will be better than last year. With the addition of Wilson and green in our secondary, hopefully we won't give up as much big pass plays and our points/game given up will be lower! At least i hope! Of course we've yet to see who we're gonna draft and we don't know if they will contribute immediately. Our defense has another year under their belt and they go into next year with just about the same coaches. It's nice to have the same head coach next year! at least they won't have to learn a new defense or offense! Will these factors make us give up less points per game to offset our opponents offense getting better this year? As you can see our opponents gave up an average of 20.4 points/game and we averaged scoring 21.6 points/game. Our offense was good enough to barely beat our opponents defense this year! This isn't good! Have we made enough changes to cover this 1.2 point difference? We must do a better job of turning field goals into touch downs! As of now, we have the same QB, WR's and RB's. Our O-line will be a little better, but will it be enough? Will our Special Teams give us better field position? Last year we caught some teams off guard with the wild cat, this year our opponents will be ready for it! Will we have enough new wrinkles to catch them off guard again? Of course it would be nice to know who we're gonna draft to make our offense better! And it would be nice to know if they're gonna make an immediate impact! To sum it all up, according to last years stats, we're barely good enough to have more W's than L's against next years opponents. But we won't be the same team as we were last year and either will our opponents. Are we confident that we made the right changes? Are we worried about the changes our opponents made to better themselves? Only time will tell.
wow thanks for all the work on this. It's amazing to see how close all the teams are to each other. It looks like we have a good chance to go 16-0, I'm all for it...of course the superbowl would be a nice change to!!!!! Keep up the good work!!!!!!
Great work. glad to see you made it to our board, you bring alot to the table. i think schedules however are scrutinized too much. things change in one season. MANY things change. think about the people that saw the MIAMI DOLPHINS on their schedule last off-season. They all probably chalked up a big fat "W" next to that game eh? i will wait till after the draft....and preseason to make presumptions on our opponents next year. but even then.....one hit can change a entire season (ex: tom brady week 1) thats why we play the game baby
i know what you're saying and i definitely agree. But last year i saw a team that could have easily won 7 games instead of 1 b/c 6 of those games were determined by 3 points or less. so i went into last year thinking that we just needed to improve our offense/defense by 3 points a game to be much better than we were the year before.
2007 dolphins offense ranked 26th scoring 16.7 points/game defense ranked 30th giving up 27.3 points/game 2008 dolphins 21.6 ponts/game 19.8 points/game given up we improved our offense by gaining 4.9 points/game and we improved our defense by giving up 7.5 less points/game that's a difference of 12.4 points a game! Just a little bit of change goes a long way.
i can't wait til we get a shut down corner so our opponents will punt and kick field goals more often!
