[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zw7CM0FJPCs"]YouTube- David Martin TD‎[/ame] If this cat is 100%, he will be a real asset to the offense, as he can split out at Wr, block acceptably well, and he knows how to use his size to get open deep.
things usually begin to fall into place just before the first preseason game. Martin should be a positive & welcome edition
One thing I recall from 08 is DMart was jacked up in the first half of the Jets game for the AFCE Title, he had a concussion and I "think" he injured his neck a bit. When we played the Ravens, he was limited in what he could do and it really hurt the offense, he is 31 "but' like Ricky Williams he does not have the mileage that the typical 31yr old NFLer has on their body.
A little off topic, but that was a beautiful spiral by Penny. He may have not have a strong arm, but god was he accurate.
And the ball was placed where only DMart could catch it, Penny's arm was not great but he was like a great control pitcher in baseball, the ball is placed exactly where he wants it to go. And he throws a very catchable ball.
that announcer just stated that we scored on the first possession of the game....that reminds me...does anyone know the statistics in the league for scoring on the first drive because I remember we were doing extremely well and burning the clock out during the season.
I do know we led the NFL in +/- ratio and ToP that year. As well as being either tied, or tied for, #1 in the NFL for fewest yards penalized.
I think we heard somewhat of a complaint by Marshall yesterday in regards to Henne throwing the ball too hard. In practice, it seems, that Henne is more controlled with his throws, but put in a "live" situation Henne loses whatever touch he's practiced with and just guns-it-in-there. A few of the local writers who attended the scrimmage mentioned that Henne doesn't have the understanding of touch when throwing to the flats and perhaps WR's running crossing routes where Henne throws the ball through the WR rather than to him. This will be interesting to watch for because it was something Henne explicitly said he wanted to work on, and knows it is a negative in his play.
Craig Morton jr? Young Qb, when pressure mounts they dial up the arm strength, Henne literally ricochet'd a ball of directly of DBess's hands in the 2nd Patriots game, Bess never had a chance to catch it as Henne throws a very "hard" ball.
Oh God is it Foootball season yet? Hearing that announcer go crazy on the big play made me deadly anxious.
He adds another dimension to the offense, plain and simple. BTW - that announcer is Dick Stockon, who will now be calling our preseason games.
It was pretty scary. I must have cringed for like 5 seconds after they cut away. Didn't someone just torpedo straight at his back as he went down later in that game too? He said he's still out of football shape though :/
I think he left the game after that hit, he fumbled and Big Jake managed to fall on the ball and still pick up a first down. Good point, and Sparano has to be cautious with him as pulled hammy's right now are a real possibility as he tries to go from -0- to game shape in a couple of weeks.
I think its all about his weight if he's gonna be that seam guy we want...He was in excellent condition back then...and for a 31 year old tight end that's everything...he will not be the same player with extra weight.. iam worried about the pooch and the bubble..
Watching that play made me wet. Especially since the rest of the game was pretty much poorly played on offense by us and it was way closer than it should have been. That aside, I think that highlight officially put me into football season though.
Alright Deej, you officially have me worried. Well, I think the combination of 90+ degree heat and humidity will help him to lose the extra maybe 10 pds he is carrying, my question is more can he stay healthy, and is there anything structurally wrong with the knee that had him released in 09? A yr off heals alot of ills my man. If the Oline does it's job the offense should be really potent this season.
I don't think this FO would have picked DMart up if they didn't feel he was in shape to play, or didn't feel they could whip him back into shape by the start of the season. I think he's a great addition and if our OL is as improved as I believe they will be, the TE's won't have to spend so much time staying in to block. Plus Marshall will remove a lot of opposing DC's tendencies to stack the box, opening up pass catching/seam opportunities for Fasano and DMart.
I cannot wait to hear his voice calling our games! I wish he would become the Dolphins' radio announcer.
