Josh Allen was the worst QB in the NFL. What happened? Oh you get him an elite receiver and he turns into a stud.

I didn't think he would do it, but damn if he's not doing it.

And yeah, his growth would probably be a model. On the minus side, he's got a cannon that Tua doesn't, but he was never anywhere near the accuracy marks Tua posted - different players, but could be similar trajectories.

Personally I don't think I'd be upset at a QB unless we really reach for a Trask or Jones, but I also think that it's a perfectly valid option to actually get some offensive talent, and give your young QB a full offseason of coaching and practice reps.

Either way it's intriguing and exciting to me trying to suss out the direction we may take.

Too many upgrades to select at that spot to waste a pick on "competition" which might be marginally better than what we already have. If we drafted a QB with #3, he could be Tua 2.0. I'm all for competition but if you think Tua is not the guy, you have roughly the same chance that the next guy isn't either. I'm okay with drafting a QB (the way WFT did with Kirk Cousins and RGIII) to spur competition and provide insurance, but not with the #3.

Comparing Tua to Burrow or Hebert is a bit unfair due to limited college experience.

Hebert: 1293 attempts
Burrow: 945
Tua: 684

Mahomes: 1349. Wilson: 1489.

Tua is raw, very raw. I thought he performed well enough give the difficulty our OL had in pass protect. And the limited skill players around him.

Flores decided to start him because we needed to know how he would perform and physically hold up. Winning was not the sole goal, finding out what we had was far more important.

Did he show enough? Fitz thinks he has "it". We will find out in April if Flores does too.

Man it's crazy around here... There's people saying Fiedler is better then Tua, really?! The Tannehill thread still keeps popping up, even though the guy is gone and some people put him in the class of Rodgers/Brady/Montana/Mahomes + some of them seem more interested in the Titans for that matter... I thought this is a Dolphins Forum... :)

For the draft it's still early so I didn't make up my mind of what I want them to do, but as of now I'm quite positive that our regime won't stink it up, especially after last draft where I only had one question mark which was Iggy with one of our firsts. If the draft was today, I would want us to trade out of the 3rd pick to acquire more picks, if they didn't do that and Sewell would be there I would take him.

Allen always had a strong arm and good mobility, even when his passes were being dropped. Tua has neither.

What do you mean raw?He was supposed to be the most polished Qb coming out of last years draft playing at the biggest school in colege football.
This guy is to small,average mobility,average arm,injury prone,panics in the pocket when his first read is covered,and can't read a defence.
and causes his own sacks because he can't see the field.I said it last year how can this guy be a top 5 pick espeically coming off that hip injury.The front office shit the bed with the most important pick in recent memory.
Brian flores is a great coach but without the Qb they will never win this division as long as allen is healthy.If they don't find one this will 2000-2003 all over again.

Josh Allen is 6'5 240lbs with a cannon for an arm. Tua is 5'11 with a piece of over cooked fettuccine for an arm. You could have left it at "Tua will never be successful"

Exactly. Tua was not supposed to be a raw project. He was supposed to be smart, accurate, etc, which was supposed to offset his lack of arm strength, short height, and pretty average mobility.

That's one of the things that worries me about taking QBs from big-time, perennial-contender schools. They're used to having the best talent in the country around them and it can make them look a lot better than they are. Look at the best QBs in the league right now. Did ANY of them come from a team that was contending for the National Championship? Aaron Rogers was Cal, IIRC. Drew Brees was Purdue. Russel Wilson was Wisconsin. Mahomes was Texas Tech, Josh Allen was Wyoming. The only ones I can think of off the top of my head that were a National Champion contender are Burrow, who is a rookie, and Mayfield, who has had his ups and downs but looks very good this year.

Must admit I loved Burrow coming out and still do.But yea for the most part you are right.
If I was front office I would sure being doing my homework on Wilson from Byu.

Trade back and then go for Zach Wilson.

I’m not defending Tagovailoa...I somehow feel I have to keep reiterating this but I also know that our offense at the skill positions SUCKED save for Gisecki.

I also know that Gailey called a much different game with Fitzpatrick under center than he did with Tagovailoa under center. Gailey was much more conservative with Tua than he was with Fitz.

We can all be upset and point fingers, screaming and yelling but we also have to be objectively honest. ONE player isn’t going to make a difference with an offense so void of talent
