and second week in a row Sherman tries to get cute. Jets game, goes to consecutive passes in a row. Cardinals game, leading with a little over 3 minutes, running pretty good. One more run would have brought us to the 2 minute warning and one more first down would have finished the game off. Do not like Armando too much but he hit this nail on the head. I like Tannehill and think he will be a good QB but this guy Sherman ( I admit, was never on board with his hiring) is showing why not many NFL teams were in line to hire him, for anything.
Except that they didn't have Bush in the 4th quarter against the Jets, but instead a rookie and a guy with a fumbling problem. But I do agree with you on the Cards game.
Chasing ? No but they did interview him along with a half dozen other people and decided to pass on the man. The man is thick headed and nothing is ever his fault. Its started to show through again and is not going away. Sherman has good game plans but his problem is he never sticks to him. He was successful at Green Bay because he had a kid named Farve just starting out. Tannehill may be the new Farve, don't know but do know the man changes crap mid flow and when it doesn't work its never his fault. Yes Tampa interviewed him but did not bring him in for the interview. Their GM was interested in Fisher, Mularkey, Haley a bunch of people. Sherman was interviewed by Bucs GM Marc Dominick who stopped over in Texas on his way to LA to see if Jeff Fisher was interested. Obviously the interview did not go well as Shermans name was never brought up again. Hey, the guy is good at offensive stratergy but as I said, his problem is getting cute at times that he does not need to be. As far to another poster saying we did not have Bush at the end of the Jets game, correct but we do have apile driving Lane and calling 4 loooooong pass plays in a row blew that game. All we had to do was control the ball and Lane could have done that easily
meh i dont agree with any of the sherm hate. We didnt have bush in the jets game period.... Dont say lane because we are using him as we should -- as a FB short yardage specialist. the pass calls werent 100% unjustified.... could they have been different? yeah. we are playing to win, not playing to not lose..... like we used to complain about... but now its the other way and still complain... cant say im suprised. ofcourse the playcalling isnt perfect... always easy to blame when it doesnt work....but if you saw the same AZ game i did... our run game was pretty much non existant for the first time... they had ALL hands on deck on run D. and it was working. hence why we had probably one of the best air shows ive ever seen. I do not disagree with going for passes in that game.... in any situation.... sorry. you go with whats working for you. and running was NOT. you say running pretty good, i say not running at all. So far i'm pretty happy with Sherman.... its 4 games into a pretty much rebuild season bro........lol and like VO was saying. marshall and carpenter. late edit: not to mention if you dont think bringing Sherm and the A&M playbook are both some of the biggest, if not THE biggest reason for T-hills big plays and confidence.... then youre nuts. that is a HUGE help to any rookie and blatantly helping his transition by a factor of night vs day. let alone helping someone with minimal starting experience anywhere, NFL and college both.
Its not hate, its fact. Sherman was canned from ATM for good reason. He refused to get an offensive co ordinator. His play calling drove people nuts. Attached is an article where the athletic director defends his playcalling. The same athletic director who fires him 2 months later because his playcalling led to more losses then wins. He did the same thing there. Solid game plan then out of nowhere completely insane crazy playcalling in the 4th quater. Like I said, its not hate, its fact. Look up what happened his last season at Green Bay, same thing. You can make your own judgement but I also have mine. Even after they fired him at ATM he was still pig headed and said his playcalling was correct, which it wasn't. Between him and Carpenter this team should be 3-1 right now. http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/...-director-sticks-up-for-Sherman-s-2194110.php
I just dont agree... flat out.... you say because of carpenter and him, i say 1-3 because of carpenter and bad bad bad turnovers...monstblitz has me on that boat now....... its shermans fault for those fumbles and INTs? thats a big stretch man. I just dont see it i really dont... every one of them was situational. I also don't really care about his past, and am very familiar with it. he has shown me nothing at this point to be worried or to dislike his calls. he just hasnt. but ...no one will ever agree 100% with their OCs calls. We are coming from sparano-ball FFS...... i cant believe anyone could be this critical of someone trying to pass the ball with a young stud QB in todays NFL..... puzzling. especially 4 games into the season.
We do have a top 5 rushing offense at the moment..... and there were situations when running the ball would have perhaps made more sense. Not doing so cost us on several occasions. Overall, I'm happy with the play calling, but still left with a bad taste in my mouth from those two losses. Their confidence in Tannehill is being validated but they need to just close games out with a combo of Bush,Lane,Thomas,Miller and the defense will be gassed. Still........ Through the 1st quarter of the season we have a top 10 offense, with a rookie Qb flashing pro-bowl caliber qualities. Tannehill has made losing Marshall and promoting Hartline seem like an upgrade ! We have a running game more effective than we've had since Ricky the early years. We had 2 100 yard receivers and it wasn't because of garbage time. So I'm not about to start calling for Sherman's head just yet. I have to say this Texas A&M influx has been a success thus far.
