http://gofanboy.com/go-fanboy-news/3805-2k-sports-has-already-approached-nfl-about-licensing-deal/ i wonder if it would still be 40 dollars
+1 to what Buckeye said. I tried to get into Madden and couldn’t. It’s just stagnant. EA Tiburon needs competition in the worst way possible. Maybe by 2015 football video games will be tolerable.
I still play NBA2K9 but couldn't get into NBA2K10. My favorite Madden edition was 2005 I believe, or the one with Ray Lewis on the cover.
Up until they lost the license the 2K series was whippin Madden's *** in playablity. I hope this happens.
EA and 2k have the license would be great. Although NFL2k5 was the best football game ever made, Madden was also pretty good then too. Both need to push the other. I do worry that they've been out of the game so long they'll need some time to get back in the groove.
PLEASE let this happen. As stated, no football game has come close to NFL 2K5. Hell, no Madden has come close to the older Maddens when they still had competition. There should be no reason why only 1 company gets an exclusive license. Gives EA no incentive to make a decent game, which they haven't in some time. Seriously, how the hell is NCAA 11 such an amazing game, but Madden is trash, makes no sense. With the NBA Live/Elite being 2K's *****, and Madden being 2K's *****, maybe they'll make a good game eventually... 2K needs to start making college basketball games again as well.
Hopeful news, but 2013 seems quite a ways away right now. I'd be happier if they could work a deal with EA to end the exclusive by 2012 and BOTH companies could make NFL games. As much as I've loved 2K football over the years, I don't want to see them grab an exclusive and us gamers being left with only ONE NFL game to play. Competition will push both developers to make better games, it might even be like 2004 when I bought both Madden and 2K5. If 2K gets the license for 2013 they have plenty of time to work on a game, time they'll need to catch up on the 360 and PS3 (by 2013 we'll probably have at least the Xbox 720 or whatever they call it to develop for too). BTW, 2K5 was actually $20 dollars new. Quite possibly the best gaming deal ever. We'll pay full price for any new game, but I'd drop $100 on a new 2K football game and grin from ear-to-ear the whole time.
I remember the days of the 2ksports.com tournaments. I won one of them on the ps2. Got a lot of good prizes from it. The online leagues were great too.
Not sure if it's just me but ever since 2006 and beyond, the defense in Madden completely changed. I haven't played Madden 2011 yet but I have tried last year and the year before version and I completely suck at defense. Hell at the whole game it seems. If I could re-create the NFL of today and put it into Madden 2005 I'd enjoy it
Make it 2013 and utilize real physics...a breakout version with their superior franchise mode ( they did it right 5 years ago EA still playing catchup) ESPN license, and a legitimate physics engine instead of canned animations would make a HUGE impact and could pull fringe players in. I will admit that this latest madden was the most playable for me in forever. But still, long live 2K
While I think 2k5 is one of the most overrated games in history. Great game, however not nearly as great as people act like it is, I am very happy if this is the case. The exclusive license is the worst thing for innovation. Nothing good has come out of it. The NFL and EA were talking about how the exclusive license would allow EA sports more access into the NFL, which would allow for a better gaming experience. That has not been the case. NFL 2k5 still has a better presentation .
agreed. game was full of flaws. Flaws that were NOT fixed in their All-pro football 2k8 game either. Every is fast enough scramble, horrible ai exploitation when it comes to pump fakes/blitzing, and open WRs dropped more catches than they caught. im glad EA would get some competition again, but really, if 2k gets exclusivity then IMO its a wash.
This would be amazing. I think whoever is first to get rid of canned ani (and do it well- I'm looking at YOU Backbreaker ) will have a big leg up on the other. Also it will depend on how EA does up their Franchise mode next year. Head Coach '09 has been the best off-season (draft, FA, coach/player development, etc.) sim to date, and EA's lead guy on that has been working on fixing/replacing Madden's F-mode since last year. I am anxious to see what he and the rest of the devel. team have come up with.
