Lotta confidence in Chubb being able to provide RB1 numbers, let alone hold onto the starting job with Kareem Hunt in the backfield too. Hope it works out. IMO that's the price you pay for Chubb once he's already established himself as the starter over Hunt. Before the season, however, with statuses up in the air, this is the time to get bargain deals for guys like Chubb & Hunt, not pay a premium.

I personally would've made sure that the deal contained a qualifier based on Chubb's 2019 status so that the blow of a 2019 1st could've been drastically reduced if he lost or split the backfield. Significant draft pick ammo given up for a non-proven commodity should always have a qualifier built into the trade IMO.

I went though last season with next to nothing at RB, and wasn't going to be able to draft a difference maker this year either. I had weeks where I was starting some combination of Latravius Murray, Carols Hyde and TJ Yeldon. Betting on the 23-year old Chubb to continue to look as good as he did after he was given the starting job seems like the safest possible thing that I can do. Hunt is suspended for the first half of the season, so Chubb will either put me in contention for a playoff run the first eight weeks, or it won't matter anyways if I'm not.

My three cuts to get me down to 25 players are:

TE Jake Butt

Josh Jacobs? He seems to be the only RB with a clear path to a starting job this year, and I don't think that any of the others have an obvious higher ceiling either.
