Time for my incredibly inaccurate, rank amateur, and probably unreasonable draft. Thanks for indulging. I used "Walter Football" as my guide for player availability...In the last two picks, I went with their picks for us because those were the positions I was looking to fill. 1. Trade Down, with Dallas, from 11 to 19 for their 50th pick in the 2nd round. Rd 1. (19) Tremaine Edmunds, LB, VT Rd 2. (42) Christian Kirk, WR, TA&M Rd 2. (50) Duke Ejiofor, DE, WF Rd 3. (73) Chase Litton, QB, Marshall Rd 4. (107) Will Clapp, C-G, LSU Rd 4. (126) Royce Freeman, RB, Oregon I think Edmunds would give us two studs at LB. He's a tough block for OL and he can cover TEs some. We need to replace Juice. I think Kirk is a similar player, a bit more speed. Ejiofor is a proto-typical DE to play opposite of Charles Harris when CH takes over for Wake. Round 3, I think its time we start looking for a QB. Big kid, good tools, needs time to develop. Round 4...need interior OL. Round 4...need RB depth. (of all the picks, this is the one I most doubt will be available where I have him slotted). Availability always gets re-set after the combine and pro days...but right now, I'd roll with this. Later round picks, I would look for value at WR, CB, DL....
Would rather pick roquan smith or Derwin James at 11 We are in a nice spot to get someone really good because of the amount of quarterbacks that will go in the top 10, causing some top talent to fall
I think he's a step below the elite talent in this draft, which I think we are in position to get some of that talent. Wouldn't be terrible to move down but would be unnecessary in my opinion
I think it is very necessary to trade down because with that few needs can be fixed - and the franchise has a lot of them. With an additional pick and an additional player two players can be required. Maybe its not Dallas to trade down with, its more like Washington (if Cousins will be lost) or Arizona (they likely need a QB). I suppose its very important to trade down IF Miami is not able to pick a player who is worth it (one of the QBs or Roquan Smith/Quenton Nelson)
Raekwon was also not "elite"...but he can be very good. I think the two of them would give us a physical LB presence, while getting us younger, cheaper, and more explosive at WR.
thats not how this works, the evaluation has been done on the player, the selection has been made, we drafted him in the 2nd round, and he's cleared for ota's, and he was penciled in as a starter last year...were counting on him as our starting mike..as well as we should.
you can't tell me what he's going to give you because: a. you've never seen him play in the nfl b. there's no statistical sample with which to draw from because of the point above. all you can do is trust the evaluations from talking heads/coaches. i think he's going to be good but to write him in and say "well that solves our MLB problem for a while!" is folly
Once again, that’s not how it works, the nfl is all projections..we’ve seen him in practice against our guys..he’s cemented in as the starter, you can waste time looking at other mikes if you wish, your call..
My ideal draft RD1 Pick 11 LB Tremaine Edmunds (will be gone if we trade down imo.) RD2 Pick 43 FS Deshon Elliot (Slight reach but one of the better coverage safeties and will be gone by our next pick) RD3 Pick 75 QB Luke Faulk RD4 Pick 107 TE Dallas Goedert RD4 Pick 126 G/C Frank Ragnow
I love doing fanspeak.org. This would be a good first three rounds. 11: R1P11 EDGE BRADLEY CHUBB NORTH CAROLINA STATE 42: R2P10 LB ROQUAN SMITH GEORGIA 73: R3P9 TE MARK ANDREWS OKLAHOMA 113: R4P11 WR KEKE COUTEE TEXAS TECH 132: R4P30 CB DARIUS PHILLIPS WESTERN MICHIGAN
Fanspeak is the worst...every time I did a mock draft there was 1st round talent in the 3rd round, even when I would change up the big boards. Also the free agency feature allows you to sign players for almost half what they will end up signing for. Wish they made it realistic.
It does happen though. So many players, every year, with 1st round and 2nd round grades drop, because there's only so many players and so many teams. I understand you're talking about unrealistic outcomes, but these bear out in reality sometimes too. Daniel Jeremiah had Alvin Kamara mocked in the back half of the first round last year. He ended up going in the 3rd round and had an outstanding rookie campaign.
