True. Regarding AJ though, I haven't seen sideline awareness and body control like he displayed that game in a while.

He was killing me in that game because I was playing the Unders all game. He and Arian Foster. And J.J. Watt come to think of it. Surprise, surprise...the three best players on the team making big plays, scoring points, and coming way too close to upsetting a superior team.

JJ has more TDs than some prominent RBs for crying out loud, including Shady. Guy just has a knack for making plays and yes, him along with Arian and AJ almost single-handedly messed up our bet.

Classic what have you done for me lately syndrome. It wouldn't even have been a ballgame without the great plays he made earlier in the game.

    Exactly.

The reason we're talking about the review is because it didn't have anything to do with player talent or how the two teams played, which deserved to win, etc. It was purely a question of officiating, kind of a judgment call really on their part. But no matter which way the officials went on it, the Texans were screwed.

I'm thinking Auburn -2.5 over Mississippi State.

This Auburn team has talent all over the place. Everywhere you look there are guys that are huge, run fast, make plays, etc. On offense Cameron Artis-Payne is a high quality RB prospect. C.J. Uzomah is a high quality TE prospect. They've got WRs coming out their ears between Sammie Coates, D'haquille Williams and even guys like Quan Bray and Melvin Ray. It's sick. The cancer survivor who replaced Greg Robinson is nearly as good as him, and only a sophomore. On defense I love guys like LB Kris Frost and DE Gabe Wright but there are some underrated guys like S Robenson Therezie, CB Trovon Reed and even a guy like DT Angelo Blackson who can be dumb at times but can also look like an animal at times. Even CB Jonathan Mincy is playing a lot better than a year ago.

You give Gus Malzahn that much pure talent on the roster and really it would take some monumental "blowing it" for them to drop a game, even against a very tough Mississippi State squad.

Auburn's D is allowing only 14.4 points per game, and of course the offense is rolling even better than a year ago. Meanwhile Mississippi State lets UAB drop 34 points on them, lets LSU drop 29 points on them and then got hit up for 31 points by TAMU. When LSU played Auburn they scored only 7 points.

On paper I'm not even sure this should be all that good of a game. I can't help but think the close 2.5 point spread is more about people wanting this to be a really tough matchup, clash of the titans, etc. Maybe that becomes kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy, as that expectating affects each team's mindset heading into the game.

That said, some of their receivers most certainly displayed some of that "blowing it" potential against Kansas State. Sammie Coates couldn't catch a cold and even D'haquille Williams got in on the act. But that was a short week, Thursday Night Football game, potential trap game as K-State wasn't viewed to be able to keep up with an Auburn, and it was on the road in a traditionally tough place to play. I'm inclined toward looking at that performance as a bit flukey.

This Mississippi State game...everyone's getting up for it. It's #2 in the country versus #3 in the country. Game of the Week. Potentially the game of the season, until the Championship game. The things that applied to the K-State game aren't going to apply here.

They could still blow it, but in my opinion between a Gus Malzahn team and a Dan Mullen team, I think it more likely for a Mullen team to underperform in a big situation. Last year MSU lost every game they played against a ranked opponent. This year they squeaked by LSU, but then Auburn STOMPED the same team...which shows that LSU just isn't that good. And I don't think Texas A&M was as good as purported. They barely escaped with their life against Arkansas, and there weren't any special circumstances there. That was at home for TAMU, Saturday game, etc. Auburn had beaten Arkansas pretty handily and that was with Nick Marshall suspended for a half. TAMU could barely get by them in OT at home, so it's not surprising they turned around and got beat by MSU the next week.

Anyway it wouldn't shock me if the margin in this game was multiple touchdowns.

I actually tried to pick up WSU +16.0 in this game but was too late.

I wonder if I'll be lucky I didn't get it, or kicking myself for not thinking of it sooner.

Team Total, Patrick Skov probably ****ed my bet with that fumble at the goal line. Goodness. Should be 11 points away from covering.

edit: scrub kicker.. So that's 10 points I could have had..

Pretty sure I'm running with Alabama -9.0 over Arkansas.

I don't think I need to even explain that one. Nick Saban's got his players up a wall right now.

Sigh, yeah.. Washington State is so bad defensively... I thought Stanford could at least get 5 TD's... oh well, we'll see what happens.

This team has a bunch of idiots, now I'm hoping Washington State beats them. Hogan reminds me too much of Henne in Michigan.

Is a good comparison. Lot of pro traits but something missing. Much like Chad Henne coming out. Kind of like Tannehill too, to be honest.

Wow. I'm lucky I didn't get to take WSU +16.0

That was the weirdest backdoor cover ever. The Cougs appeared to just chalk up the game with about 2 or 3 minutes left when they were on offense. Then on defense, they start calling timeouts with Stanford on the door step of the end zone, forcing Stanford to just keep running more plays. They get into the end zone and win by 17 points.

Never...ever...ever...EVER bet on a Mike Leach team.

You're right about Stanford blowing it for you but you shouldn't have lost by 0.5 points. You should have lost by 7.5 points. It was inexcusable how WSU called the end of the game. You could almost suspect Leach himself bet on Stanford -16.0 points.

No Terrel Hunt, Syracuse going two quarterback system against FSU. Sounds like a disaster for a team that just got blown out by Louisville. Jameis looking to silence controversy.

FSU's defense is porous. I am not confident they cover anymore. I don't know if FSU can get very far at the college playoff with this defense..
