Lebron never predicted 8 championships. get real. and SHULA DID predict championships when he was hired.
not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven..... what was he predicting? the points he would score in gm 4? "and i really believe it" lebron
Not what I said...I said taking what was said at a pep rally as a literal interpretation was stupid. meaning, doing what You were doing was stupid. In training camp, when actual press conferences started, both he and the rest of the Heat bent over backwards to kiss the *** of all their opponents and offered glowing praise of every opponent all year. The Heat went out of their way to be humble all year. I think they went too far. I think they should have gone to center court after smacking around boston and dropped their pants and showed their *** to the Celtic bench. Nevermind what I wanted them to say and do after they beat Chicago. Dallas..nobody cares about them..hard to get worked up about them..when the only guy you hate is the owner and he is not doing any talking..well. it would have bothered me though, had they lost to LA.
LBJ also said it would be easy. Just saw the replay of the clip on tv. BTW, it was LBJ that talked Dynasty.
you're rationalizing it, excusing it. this, more than the decision, is what galvanized the country against lebron and the heat imo. the first two public moments were the decision followed by this arrogant prediction, all coming from a guy who had never achieved a single championship?! he got his comeuppance and the entire country partied. you missed a helluva party section. it was almost as good as when the giants beat the patriots
Are people really arguing over his "prediction"? God damn, it was nothing more than saying they'll bring home titles to Miami. What did you want him to say? "Well, uh, we'll try and win championships but we don't want to get your hopes up and guarantee a few." But it's LeBron, so everything he says gets dissected to the fullest.
Same with Rex Ryan, he's going on his third year saying he's going to win it all. Section made a comment earlier that losing this final was okay because it's start of a Dynasty, didn't we think Dan Marino would be back for several Super Bowls after losing in his second year. These people are counting chickens before they are hatched.
Please ali talked **** all the time and people hated on him for it. But you know what, muhammed ali didn't ***** when he didn't win. He went out and won. LBJ is no exception. Don't want people to "dissect" what you say don't say it front of a live audience. He obviously felt courageous enough to say it in front of them and it back fired.
Right, cause you and I have had this conversation sooooo many timed Mat For the record, he was found in a parking lot so drunk he didn't know where he was. They arrested him, and he was released 4 hours later on a whopping 400.00 dollar bond. Pretty sure hes looking at life, or perhaps a meeting with old sparky seeing how this is Texas
Reportedly there are already thousands lining up to see the victory parade this morning here in Dallas
Sec - you said the Celtics were the only team that was truly a dynasty? What is your definition for a dynasty? I would think 3 titles in the span of 5 years would be more of a qualifier (at least for the modern era). That would make the 90's Bulls, early 00's Lakers, and late 80's Lakers. The one that is a question to me is the Spurs - titles in '07, '05, '03 and '99. They were great for a long time but never put together back-to-back titles and had a lot of time in between. The Lakers also put together a run of dominance in between their titles. Their place historically is interesting.
for the record Con the Yankees are always the Champs, they just let other teams borrow the trophy every now and then....
Not me..Riley said that, and I agree. A Dynasty should span at least 10 years. So therefore, the Celtics in the 60's was the only one. In the NFL, we have some "real ones" in the 49ers in the 80's, and the Pats in the 00's. for the modern definition, I agree that domination of HALF a decade is what now applies.
the NBA is vastly different than the NFL. In the NBA, talent always wins out and comes out on top. and don;t compare the Jets to the Heat. In the last 5 years, the Heat has more hardware than than the Jets do in their entire history.
That sounds like the biggest collection of losers ever assembled. None of their crappy teams could do it, so a team that has a provincial fanbase has to do their dirty work for them? Those people need lives.
I think you missed the part where 29 teams had to form a think-tank and collaboratively defeat the Miami Heat.
You did and I'm not going to bother looking for that statement that you said in November. At least I didn't told everyone to bet on Heat to win Game 6 and saying it's "free money."
that sucks, given how many people live there.....come to Boston in a few days if you want to see numbers.....
And why you, like many other analysts, had the NBA Champions getting bounced in the first round? I'll agree that it's much easier to predict than football and this season probably had more surprises than the more recent ones, but I don't believe it's quite as easy to predict as you're making it seem. And your title above your avatar needs an asterisk.
I did not. and did the Refs favor the Heat in a lopsided manner in game 6? YES. SO I knew what I was talking about, unlike you, which has not been right about anything...EVER.
Because Dallas had played like *** the last 3 weeks of the season, and Portland was hot. Portland had the personnel to matchup pretty well with Dallas as well. The reason I piked them and alot of people pick them is because the first round of the playoffs is very predictable and there is no value to be had for bettors. So you look for the value and that was the series that offered the most. Even the #1 vs. #8 (SAS vs. MEM) series had a TON of money come in on Memphis and it hurt the price on that series. yes. it is very easy to predict. there is rarely, if any randomness. You can look at the Hollinger efficiency ratings and make predictions for success out of that. I have been doing it for years. it is why I rode the Celtics last year when everybody wanted to bury them as a 4th seed. I said they were a lock for the finals. it is very predictable.
