to be honest, i didn't expect much from uggla there. he swings at everything low, and doesn't perform well with runners in scoring position. wagner is a bad match up for him. i'm just glad we won and the team is back to 0.500.

See, that's the thing. Uggla is supposed to be one of our best bats. In a position like that, I'd hope by now he's improved enough to at least get a base hit. He doesn't even need to hit for power, just hit.

Water under the bridge, though. We won.

yeah i know. a base hit would've been gravy. i was hoping for a sac fly. the sad truth is that when uggla is one of the best bats on your team, you are a team that is happy to be 0.500.

i wish the marlins would go the dombrowski model of speed, defense and pitching. instead we have a logjam of positions players that can't defend (or are out of position), our #2 starter is nolasco, bonaficio is the lone base stealing threat, and the bullpen is shotty.

this team is built to win 81 or so games a year for a very long time. "bozo the art clown" will continue to bank during that time. i will continue to drink and watch marlins games, while rooting for 0.500.

So I'm driving up from So Fla tonight and listening to the game on 790 until naturally I reach past it's broadcast area. Fortunately I find 95.9 fm on the turnpike which was oddly enough a braves station. I've listened to the whole game up until veras let's up two runs in the top of 9 when I hit Orlando and lose that station. I search am and fm and can't find the game and miss the end. So pissed but glad we pulled it off.

I don't know where 95.9 fm is at but I grew up in the florida panhandle and it has been braves country for a long time. I'd say it still is despite Fox sports trying to force feed them the Marlins on television. But I wouldn't be that surprised to hear a Braves station in Florida if it's in the north.

This is false. Uggla is a top 5 second basemen and our offense has been among the best in the NL over the last 3 years.

If you have an iPhone or an Android phone, your best bet at that point is to download a streaming radio app, such as 790's own app. (Side note: they really need to update that thing for iOS 4.) Hook it up to your car's AUX jack and voila.

The good news is that our hitters are most definitely better than they have performed this season. So hopefully they heat up and we can make a run. Also Stanton should only get better.

Worst bullpen ever. Cantu needs to be traded and we need to solidfy a defense for next year. We can't keep making this many errors. Think Logan morriston can play third?

Definitely not. Logan in left, Cogz at third, Uggla at second.

I like how this thread is back to realizing the bullpen sucks. Welcome back, guys.

And I'll be shocked if Cantu is a Marlin for much longer.

This is like expressing relief that a quadriplegic has gotten over a headache. He's still a quadriplegic.

Well, the bullpen isn't THAT bad. Nunez, Hensley, Veras and Badenhop are good. We just need to shore up the back end of the bullpen by replacing Marinez who needs more time down in the minor leagues, Sosa who sucks, and Tankersley who's confidence has to be shattered now.

I disagree. Cogz himself has said that the transition back to third from left would be harder than the original transition to the outfield. Also he doesn't even own a third base glove anymore. IMO it'd be much easier to flip Logan across the diamond.

There is zero chance that's happening. He has literally no range. Plus he's already started playing left in the minors.

LoMo to left, Cogz to third. Book it.

I didn't say it's happening, it's just what I would do. And somehow I don't see how putting a guy with no range in the outfield is any better.

    Unless it's Brian Mcann

He doesn't suck. He's a really good LOOGY. Obviously, we expected more since he was a first round pick.

Painful. We HAD them right where we wanted them. Strong outing -result wise- for Anibal and we blew it.

I hope you find out what the Mets have been finding out on their west coast road trip. Good series. The Marlins were a pesky opponent as usual. Your bullpen is awful. Jorge Sosa was incredibly lucky, it's not often that three consecutive hits don't produce a run. The perfect storm of events to get him out of that. Singles hit just right and a slow lead runner.

We really need to replace Sosa and Marinez. I'm fine with Nunez, Hensley, Badenhop, Veras, Sanches and Tank. But Marinez needs more time in the minors and Sosa just sucks.

lol, forgot about that. I was wondering why we were carrying an extra bullpen arm. All we need to do is replace Sosa now, who got extremely lucky today.

    His first inning was dirty.

Hanley needs to pick it up.
