Any thoughts on DT's Sammie Lee Hill or Ron Brace? Hill I know nothing about except about 6-4, 225 and plays at Stillman, wherever that is. Brace, if he was the big DT playing next to Raji against (I think) Wake Forest a couple of weeks ago- he looked pretty good.

Todd Lowber- I caught some of the Cowboys camp show on HBO- that guy is extremely fast, quick, and has almost perfect size. Can leap out of the building, too. I'm wondering if he'll blossom or will be a coach killer type. I'm hopeful- dude's got talent.

Stillman is in Alabama. But I've never seen Hill and am not likely to. You don't get many Stillman College games over here.

Brace is a mid rounder who needs to improve his technique and who possibly benefits from being alonsgside BJ Raji. Good player but with work to do.

Lowber isn't going to be a coach killer because he's almost certainly never going to see the field.

    Well away from here
Brace is the guy who benefits from getting singled up alot due to Raji. #60 I believe. Brace is not as laterally mobile, nor is he as explosive. Brace has good hands and can absorb contact well, although athletically he is sub par to that of Raji.

Yeah I 'd have to agree. Athletic talent in droves, but he just may be too raw to work with at this stage. There is such a time requirement just to get him to where he could compete on daily basis that many coaches won't have the time to invest in him. It is unfortunate, but it does happen.

I'm not so sure about that- his physical attributes are undeniable, Ireland knows him from the Cowboys days, and I doubt that he would have been signed to do nothing more than consume a PS slot. He needs to be coached up for sure- maybe Karl Dorrell is the man for the job.

I will be AMAZED if he ever sees the field. Physical attributes are one thing.....ability to play WR in the NFL is something TOTALLY different.

My hope is that the third time is the charm after stints with the Vikes and Cowboys. The HBO series gave the impression that he was frustrating coaches and lacked knowledge of the game- not good. Your points are well made, but he looked like he has soft hands and he can flat out fly. We'll see what happens, who knows.

I'd have to agree to be honest. Would I like to proven wrong, sure. In this case there is just too much working against the kid for it to work out IMO. But as I always say, I like guys but if you can get me someone better then go do it. I care not who is on the roster as long as they perform as required.

But WR is so hard to learn for guys who've played 3+ years already in college, and this guy has less than that. He'd have to really show something to make it past all of the other guys that are out there.

Hey, Camarillo made it, but the odds are against it happening twice with the same team within 2 years are pretty high. I play poker, and play against the odds all the time, to win sometimes you have to, but you can't do it all night or you'll go broke in a hurry. We've hit with Camarillo, and we may just be playing around if we bank on Lowber making it. He seems like a nice kid, and he's getting a chance and that's better than some get, so we'll see where he goes. Tough he only has two years to be on the PS before we have to make a decision with him, but he has to stick for those two years too.

Yep - Camarillo made it for every reason that goes against Lowber; understanding of the game and the position, ability to run routes, understanding of defences. The NFL is littered with fast guys who never made it. Lowber is just another to chuck onto that pile.

Naw, Dansby plays out in football hell and has never been to a Pro Bowl or anything like that. The guy is wildly underrated, IMO.

Football people know all about him and of the two, Dansby is the bigger name.

    Great thread! Thanks!

I knew the Dolphins stacked their board horizontally rather than vertically. However, I don't think that means they don't consider the BPA in the first round. For example, they wouldn't pass up Calvin Johnson for Jon Beason just because they value linebackers over wide receivers.

This regime would absolutely take Jon Beason over Calvin Johnson. They simply value the defensive front seven as a group more than they do the wide receiver position.

Actually, they'd trade down. I'd also be careful with absolute statements. No need to bring the entire Jake Long/Chris Long debate back into the fold. Most likely though it would be Beason except for the fact that Beason is not a prototypical 3-4 ILB.

We can take Corey Webster off the free agent list he just got a 5 year $43 million deal. How much do you guys think we can get a Bryant McFadden or a Dunta Robinson for?

McFadden is probably around the same price. Dunta will be less because of his injuries IMO.

Anymore insight on Smith? I know he's a big corner in the 6-2/6-3 range but thats about it. Is he a second rounder?

If Houston doesnt re-sign him Id be worried about his injury. But hes been decent coming back so far and as thin in the secondary as they are, they wont let him leave unless hes trying to get way overpaid.

McFadden likely will be getting a deal similar to Webster at least. I curious to see what the Raiders do with Nnamdi. As messed as that franchise is, maybe he tries to get out (unless I totally missed him getting a new contract?).

now that Albert Haynesworth can't be franchised I wonder if Bill makes a run at him in the off season...he's going to cost some major bread but we saw what Kris Jenkins has done for the Jets

Didn't the Bills just pay through the nose for Marcus Stroud? I think they're ok for now.

Miami should feel him out but honestly I don't know how much Haynesworth would want to come and play a less glorious two-gap scheme.

Nnamdi just hired a new agent. He'll probably get franchised and then sit out for a long-term deal from the Raiders, or get traded to someone who will sign him to a long term deal.

Somebody's gonna break the bank to get him. I'd trade our 1st rounder + any DB on our roster for the guy. His contract would be cheaper than Jake Long's!

Another one bites the dust. I really hope we draft a CB on day one.

Personally I think they'd take Calvin Johnson if forced between the two. They don't value the ILB position all that much either.
