and they dont hang world series banners for winning a division 14 straight yrs.....and only winning a championship once
no. ****. they don't hang nba world championship banners for winning your division in baseball either.
Breaking news...we lost a one run game on the road. We have now lost 19 consecutive one run games on the road dating back to last year. Chipper had a really rough night. 0-5 at the plate and he let two balls get by him in the 11th which led to the winning run. This **** can't on for much longer. Either our luck will change or Bobby is going to have to do something to this team during road trips.

Don't look now, a tough win at home. It's almost just like they have better luck. Without the wild pitch in the 9th it never would have made it to extra innings. Obviously Smoltz still doesn't look like himself. That new arm motion is probably going to take some getting used to.
We needed a win like this. This is how long winning streaks get started. Smoltz looks like he's still trying to find that release point with the new delivery. Going 3/4 just about neutralizes that great slider of his. Escobar is ICE cold in the clutch, theres not another guy Id rather have up there with the game on the line.
Seriously......no one but Younel Escobar?!?!?! Seriously?? No one else? wow.....i mean being a fan is cool and all.....but you would rather have him over ANYONE else in the league?!?!?
i cant spell other teams average players names correctly.....i dont expect most non-marlins fans to know how to pronounce amezega either....it happens
Yunel is clearly above average. I'm not the least bit surprised that he saved the game twice for them last night. The kid can play.
Chipper is a lock to start the All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium, but Im gonna post his numbers anyway. Maybe I can start a daily '400 Watch' with Chip Chipper Jones #10 3B» 2008 STATS BA HR RBI OBP SLG .409 13 38 .492 .649
man this is starting to piss me off. We can beat the best in our house, but on the road we can't even beat the bad teams.
Yeah its pretty weird. The last 2 wins are losses for sure if we're on the road. Its def a mental thing now, those types of things snowball. Its like Yogi once said "This game is 90% mental, and the other half is physical"
So I wonder mentally how they get out of this funk. They know they can't continue this and expect to win the east.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! ****! There goes our chances of doing anything significant in the playoffs this year. This may be farewell to one of the all-time greats. It may also make us a player to land a big name SP at the trade dealine or possibly sooner.
How about this fellas, we could potentially see Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz go into the HOF together. I might shed a tear during that ceremony...hell I might fly up to see that ceremony.
Yeah that would be something else. Baseball will likely never see a trio like that on the same team in their primes.
Reyes is so inconsistant though. I get nervous everytime I see him starting. Jurjjens has been just what the doctor ordered though.
Well without Chipper in the lineup we've jumped on Hendrickson for 3 runs and 7 hits in 2 innings. If we can knock him out early, the Marlins pen seems to be tired.
Yeah this one hurt. Not sure why Soriano didnt pitch the 9th unless Bobby wanted to give him a day off after 2 appearances in a row. To hold them in check and take the first 3 woulda been nice. Im still not sure why Bobby allows Acosta to close instead of Ohman or Boyer...
While it sucks Smoltz is out for the season, it might now open the door for a 24 year old prospect by the name of Charlie Morton to step up. I actually played on the same junior olympic baseball team with Charlie and I've been rooting hard for him ever since he got drafted in '02 (in the 3rd round after Francoeur and McCann). He's been so-so until last fall in the AFL when he made some changes to his delivery and has been flat out nasty. He's like 7-1 right now with an ERA under 2.00. I hope they give him a chance soon, I've heard rumors he might get called up and tight Jo-Jo Reyes place.
The Braves are very high on JoJo. They've turned down a couple trades where he was involved in the asking price. If they wanted this kid Morton to take over the 5th spot in the rotation they must have high hopes for him. Ray are those numbers from Double or Triple A? If its AA I am very impressed.

We had the 40th overall pick in this years draft and took Brett Devall. Another crafty lefty in the mold of Horacio Ramirez and Chuck James. Not a sexy pick at all, considering the luck we've had with...well the luck we've had with Ramirez and James. Heres a link to his bio. http://www.takkle.com/people/7261675/-/profile EDIT: Just watched his scouting video. He's consistently in the mid 80's (an online bio said low 90's) and appears to have some serious control problems. His off-speed stuff is nasty when he locates, but he doesnt throw hard enough to rely on his fastball alone and will need to better develop his 2nd and 3rd pitches. Looks like a reclamation project. Reminds me a little of Zach Duke or Paul Maholm of Pitt.
