Well we almost blew an 8 run lead with the bucket. The baseball Gods saw you were trying to pull a fast one and it almost cost us. Better play it safe from now on
I think with James on the mound and Chipper out of the lineup its gonna take more than a chicken tonight...
I wouldn't lose sleep if we parted ways. They were talking about Huston Street on Baseball Tonight last night and how he could be on the trade block. They didn't say there was talk or any sort of link. But Gammons (I think it was him) said it would make sense for the Braves to go after him.
See im not so sure about that one. If Smoltz goes back to the pen and Soriano comes back healthy... Then Mike Gonzalez is due back in a couple months (granted hes coming off Tommy John). The emergence of Royce Ring and Blaine Boyer with Will Ohman and Manny Acosta in the mix in not sure we need Huston Street. Dont get me wrong you can NEVER have enough good arms in the pen. Id just like to see us add a starter instead. You know if Hampton and Smoltz were healthy James wouldnt even be in the rotation. Jojo Reyes gives us a much better chance to win than Chucky IMO.
I'd probably rather have another starter too, assuming at least Smoltz and either Soriano or Gonzalez come back.
2 outta 3 from the A's is solid. They're a pretty good team. The BP has an awesome scoreless streak going as well (think its 16 or 17 straight?) If JoJo Reyes can give us a quality start like that this team is in business. Smoltz and Soriano are due back pretty soon as well. EDIT: Actually Smoltz felt some discomfort over the weekend in a throwing session, may not be back till mid June....
They always keep saying that Reyes has good stuff. Maybe nerves have just been his issue. If he calms down and consistently gives good innings that would be huge for the rest of this season. Has Atlanta lost a series at home this season? I don't think they have. This jekyll-hyde thing they do on the road is baffling. I read that Chipper snapped an 0-6 hitless streak in the last game and his average is still at .410. I wonder how long he can keep it over .400, I've been waiting for it to drop down for a couple of weeks now.
That first home series against Pitt they took 2 of 3. Lights out since then. Chip has cooled off a bit (.406 and I say he's cooled is unreal) but the guy around him seem to be picking it up. Mccann is tearing the cover off the ball and Mark Kotsay has been great. If Tex and Francouer (who's been hitting a little better lately) can pick it up we've got a chance to have another great homestand.
Must...resist...urge...to make...racial...joke..... We picked him up from Seattle earlier this year. He's been pretty solid as a middle reliever. Pretty good contol. Excellent change-up.
I've heard Smoltz is supposed to throw a bullpen session soon and thinks he might not be back as soon as he thought.
I thought it was pretty funny....... Soriano maybe next couple weeks, Smoltz maybe not for a few weeks. He (smoltz) has another throwing session this week. They'll re-evaulate his status after.
Lucky's cousin has picthed well tonight with 5 scoreless innings. Hopefully the pen can continue their good work.
Well we won the game but it looks like Escobar may be hurt. Scary play to end it. Church went in high to try and break up the douple play and Escobar kicked him in the head trying to avoid him. Looks like Church was knocked out cold for a minute. Not sure why he went in so high, not smart. Hopefully he and Escobar are ok...
Tim Hudson and Tom Glavine rave about how smart the guy is as a pitcher. Having a couple HOF'ers on the staff with him never hurts. Hows that Renteria trade workin out for Detriot so far?
McCann and Frenchy pulled two pitches that just died in the air once they got to the warning track. Chipper goes between center and left center and it goes out. The guy is just unreal.
I have NEVER seen a hitter as locked in as Chip. Even that flyout last inning he just missed. I guess Bobby knew what he was doing last night when he sat Frenchie. Hes a double away from the cycle.
Welcome to our humble aboad. If you read back a little further in this thread you'll se how dedicated we are as Braves fans
