Ok, ok. Just because you have a better record in May doesnt mean you have a better team. Hence my comment about ****y
Just for fun Im going to continually update the stats of Chipper and David Wright. This way when Wright is elected to start the All-Star Game when can all jeer and boo like crazy. .
Chipper is a hitting machine fueled by the power of Mets fans' boos. I wonder how long he can keep this up.
It's a long season. I'm interested to see how well their one million dollar team payroll holds up over the season.
LOL the Rockies had a worse record than the Nationals at one point last year, were the Gnats better? You guys have had a nice start, but you'll be lucky to finish above .500 this year. They play 162 games, not 33...
Ho hum another Hudson win at home last night. Bullpen was great again. Chipper best hitter in Basebeall, etc.
What's that five wins in a row now? If this could carry over into their next road trip they could take first place.
Unfortunately we're likr 4-12 on the road this year. Have to play better away from home. JoJo Reyes takes the ball with a chance for the sweep today. Figure if he can limit SD to 5 runs or less we should get the win considering Ledezma is pitching for them...
I read they have the best home record in MLB. How Reyes will pitch is anybody's guess. Hopefully we'll see solid stuff like last time.
Pretty shaky start for JoJo. Defense didnt help him any. He has to keep us in the game though. We'll get some runs off Ledezma.
We have had some weird luck this year. JoJo left with a blister. Carlyle left with a strained neck. But the bullpen has kept us in this one. Nothing serious came back on the MRI on Soriano but they aren't sure when he'll be back. Maybe we can be somewhat healthy in the second half and just hang around until then.
Escobar and Chipper doing what they have done all year long and someone else finally steps up. Tex is killing me but Diaz came through. Nice come from behind, scrappy win today.
Best win of the year IMO. We came through in the face of adversity, bullpen awesome, clutch hitting. Love the way we came back.
The losses we've had this year have been pretty pathetic. 4 to the Pirates, 3 to the Rocks, and 5 to the Gnats?
Chipper Jones #10 3B» 2008 STATS BA HR RBI OBP SLG .406 10 30 .465 .681 David Wright #5 3B» 2008 STATS BA HR RBI OBP SLG .272 7 32 .398 .529 And even though he isnt a 3rd baseman Im throwin Hanley in there as well... Hanley Ramirez #2 SS» 2008 STATS BA HR RBI OBP SLG .331 9 22 .419 .568
Chipper broke out of the slump in the first game of the doubleheader today going 3-4. Of course no one else did anything as we got shut out. I love the Braves but I also like watching Hanley Ramirez play. The guy can do it all. Hopefully Escobar continues to play well and becomes our version of Hanley, with far less stolen bases though.
Offense is pathetic right now. And Tex going out with back spasms isnt going to help any. How this team can be so horrible on the road (against bad teams at that) is a head scratcher...
Well barring a huge collapse we will stave off the 4 game sweep at Pitt. The pitching matchups against Philly do not look good. We'll run out 3 lefties in Reyes, Glavine, and James. They have 3 wins combined between the 3 this year...
That doesn't sound good against a Philly offense that just got back Jimmy Rollins and has Chase Utley competing with Chipper for early season MVP.
The only thing that may work in our favor is that we are running out 3 lefties. Ryan Howard cant hit LHP to save his life and has 54 K's this season. Unfortunately we have to face Myers and Hammels in the latter games of the series.
This team is such an enigma I don't really know what to expect. I could easily see them following up a sorry series against a bad team with a good series against Philly. But it is on the road so I'm not going to count on it.
Chipper absolutely killed the first pitch he saw out to left center. Escobar put a nice swing on one for a leadoff HR. Lets see if Glavine can continue to pitch well.
Tommy looks sharp tonight. Hitting his spots and changing speeds very nicely. Id like to see the offense get a couple more and put the nail in this one.
Yeah I was surprised when I flipped back and saw the Phils put up 6 runs. I guess that's the Braves for you.
I'm glad they pulled off the win on the road tonight. They need to win this series though in the worst way and try to put this road stigma behind them. Who's pitching tomorrow?
Chuck James...*****. The Phils usually beat up on Chuck pretty bad. Im not anticipating a win as he is going against Hammels. Dont think we'll be able to pound him like we did Myers.
