maybe we should review who are the last 8 players who wore #19 . we may have to embed clovers on the sleeve.
He is having a great year but what percent of the catches hit him and fall to the ground? Alot in key plays. A whole lot. If he caught more of them imagine the season he would have had.
dolphins are not making the playoffs and theyre one of the good teams in the NFL..better luck next time. GET a new HC.
I believe he is up around 1,150 7 Td's this yr, with one game left to go. The #19 is not "cursed", we mneed another RZ target who can create their own space.
It isn't just how many big plays a player makes it is how few bad ones. Marshall is one of the guys that gets hidden behind the stats. He would be like a QB that throws for 5,000 yards and 10 TD but has 25 interceptions. But b/c there isn't an official stat that gets added to his stat line for WR (TD drops, 1st down drops, overall drops) fans can say but he has 77 catches, 1,177 yards and 6 TDs see how good he is... How does one measure how deflating it is for the team when the alpha (cough, cough) offensive player drops TD after TD. Also takes plays away from other players that might have actually scored. If Fitzgerald or a dozen other WRs were given the same opportunities Marshall has had they would be leading the NFL in TD catches with at least 15. The paradox of BM is he is the 3rd best offensive player on the field (behind Long and Bush) and the WORST...well, tied with Colombo.
I could say the same thing about his TD catches. How pumped up do you think Moore gets when he sees Marshall making TD catches like the one against Dallas? Or today, when he got laid out, yet held on? You're overrating the drop statistic, IMO.
Most superstar wide receivers have their fair share of drops. It makes me laugh how people act as if we are the only team that experiences these type of things.
Well, if he has a good gm vs the Jets, I believe he can move into the "all time" list? My issue with BM is more of a player personnel one, meaning he more or less is our red zone option, we someone else so his drops are not as costly. Basically we have few options besides him/
In regards to his drops the biggest thing I noticed was that when he catches the ball he does not bring it into his body right away. A lot of times when he catches the ball he sort of holds the ball out for a while and then casually brings the ball into his body. This allows the CBs to swat and rip at his arms and since he does not secure the ball right away after catching it a lot of times he will drop it. The problem isn't his hands or anything like that, its just he doesn't get the ball into his body to hold it securely fast enough. This could easily be corrected if the coaches work with him.
Warts and all, there are 6 wide receivers in the NFL with more yardage than him. If he fixes those issues he's got potential to be the best.
Marshall has never caught the ball cleanly. He doesn't pluck the ball. It's more of a double catch. That's why he has always been amongst the league leaders in drops. But he also has elite size and power and pretty good speed. The result of that combination is that he also is amongst the league leaders in yards and avg. He'll most likely finish this season with the second highest total and second highest average of his career. He also may end up tying his second highest TD total. He is pretty much exactly the WR we should have expected when we traded for him. And I'm pretty happy with that.
