Great, that's just what we need--multiple competing Internets. It's taking long enough just to phase in IPv6. Phasing in an Internet 2 is going to be nigh impossible.
Didn't read the article, but once this gets out to the masses, whats to stop the identity thefts from going up to an all time high? If people are able to download tons of information in mere seconds, if someone taps into a database, potentially millions upon millions of people's identities can be jeopardized within minutes.

Frankly, security isn't hard. Most of the vulnerabilities and breaches you've heard about are done as the result of policy lapses. A well-planned security policy is worth its weight in gold. Example: all those stolen laptops you've heard about? Well, why are they storing data on those laptops in the first place? If the user needs local physical storage, use an external drive located in a secured cabinet. If they need mobile access to that data, set up a VPN and let them connect to a remote server with strict permissions.
Ok let me be the 1st dummy to ask. What would be the affects on a very dangerous creature... A redneck with a computer and he knows how to turn it on??? If it were to go online tomorrow, would the average pc use be able to use it? Would specialize equipment be needed? or would it just convert over and the redneck would not know the difference except the Internet was way faster?
You are right but security is harder to crack now because it uses 128 bit algorithms as opposed to the once difficult 56 bits which computer speed caught up to. A good policy can help prevent many mishaps but one computer security statistic is that there is a lack of reports of attacks, viruses and other computer security incidents for various reasons. Hence why you hear more about the employee mishaps vs the attacks and such that occur.
You're talking about encryption. Data encryption is just one aspect of computer security. There's so much more you could do than just encrypt your data.
I know, you are refering to a security policy, how to handle personal info, what basic procedures to take if data is misplaced, how often data is backed up etc.
stuff like that already is happening. what was it 1 1/2-2 years ago when the veterans administration was hacked and every vet that was in the data base was compromised? they were just fortunate that the hacker was careless and all was recovered.

Yep. They're doing a great job over there. Everyone who wants to complain about the speed of the Intertron here in the US needs to take a look at a map of the country. It takes a lot of money and a long time to upgrade all of that landmass.

No, Space Mountain is in The Magic Kingdom park and its a roller coaster. This one is Spaceship Earth and its a slow ride but its cold in there and lets you sit back and relax after being in line most of the day.
I protect my data with the threat of what a savage beating the hacker would receive if he abused my data. Seems to work pretty well.
