24 comes back tomorrow! For some reason im not as excited for this season as last but i hope it is just as good!
I agree with you, I think it's because of the lack of hype for it. I just feel like FOX hasn't been promoting it as much as past seasons. Kind of makes me nervous this might not be a good season. Well see though.
Last night was ok i guess. I think it'll pick up tonight. Can't wait to see if we find out what happened with Renee Walker torturing Alan Wilson
I think Freddy Prince jr is doing an amazing job so far. I thought he would suck but i like him! I think its because they did not force us on him, they just eased him in
I doubt they will go into any futher detail about it, I think what we heard about it last night is the end of it. The writers never really explain past events and leave a lot of it up in the air. Yeah I like him and his character so far. It's good to finally see a character respect Jack Bauer right away instead of doubting him and not listening. As far as the other new characters I'm not a fan of any of them.
Also I might add that Renee's return is extremely similar to Jack's Season 2 return where he/she is the only one that can go back undercover to find the bad guys and has to cut off a head/thumb to help get in. Jack should have remembered that.
2 points 1. Not a fan of TV being in a sub forum...We have had 4 hours of 24 and only 7 posts 2. Dana or Jenny might be the dumbest story line yet....With all the background they have to do no one knows she changed her name....Some idiot ex comes to her work during a crisis and gets to tlak to her like that with no one stepping in
Agree with both points. I'm not sure why the mods moved the Movies/Music section to a sub forum as it makes it harder to find but I do think movies & TV should be grouped together, just easier to find maybe since a lot of the threads don't get a lot of responses. And yes I hate the Dana/Jenny storyline too. It's dumb and boring and I don't see how there can possibly be a good outcome that the viewer will be happy with. But hey at least it appears that CTU is underground now so that eliminates a possible attack on CTU via the sewer system, right?
Love the show, but does anyone else find it odd that Jack gets the living crap beat out of his face by a cop but has not a bruise on him the rest of the day.
A cop from West Baltimore none the less(Wire reference). Anyway, I found the first 4 hours kinda boring...maybe just because I can't really see how they have a bigger threat then what they have had in the past. I agree with all the views on this new chick. I could care less about her
So true. Love Thephins.com and all, but I don't like TV and Movies in its own subforum. It's not like the Lounge is inundated with new threads every day. There's like 4 created per day.
This would piss me off to no end. It'd be like the guy responsible for 4 seasons of 24 getting off the hook so easily or not really knowing what happens to him. And Tony's revenge plot all for not. But I think we'll see Tony sometime in the future of 24, and it'd suck if they bring him back without an explanation of what happened to Alan Wilson.
the thing i hate about the Dana/Jenny story line is i know her ex is going to play a role in whats going on, and if that happens id be pissed
Hey I hear you and agree it would be nice to know what happened with Alan Wilson and even Tony but I'd bet good money that we won't find out. The writers like to leave things up in the air and there have been plenty of things throughout the seasons that they never explained.
I think it might be my fault the music and movies subforum was created. I thought it would be a good idea. I actually still like it. Anyway, count me in with the Dana-haters, which is a shame, because Kates Sackhoff is being thoroughly wasted.
I think it's a good idea too, it's just way too hard to find and kind of in an awkward position in the lounge forums page. Ditto for the Health and Fitness forums. Maybe it should be a main forum on the main page like the video game forums are? I'm just thinking out loud.
I guess I'm not seeing what's so hard to find about it. That said, I wouldn't be opposed to TV, Music and Movies being a main forum under "Fun and Mischief." [/derail]
It just does not get as many views IMO.....When it was all in the lounge you would open up the lounge and comment on a thread that peaked your interest....now with all these different forums I need to go look and find a thread (ie. LOST or 24)...If the lounge had 20-25 new threads a day and was cluttered I would understand As far as 24 goes....I might still complain about things but it is still one of my favourites....Just need to suspend belief a little (hopefully not to much).....Nice to see Jack happy and a good granddad.....Rene looks messed up and played it well
I'm a pretty computer savvy person, but I didn't notice this forum until about a week ago. I was wondering why I didn't see any TV show threads and then I stumbled upon it here. I like the idea of it being a main forum
pretty good start so far. i like the cat and mouse game with the assassin. they strectched it out to a good length, imo he wasnt a pasty character that got taken out right away nor was he a guy that would take half a season to catch, only to pass off and reveal a more sinister plot and character this season is very politically oriented, which is good, imo, where national policy, agenda and security are all tied into a delicate balance the presidency isnt just being used as aid or obstruction to security
Maybe now that it contains all entertainment, it could warrant its own forum. It'd be great if, to complete the transition, all ent threads still in the Lounge were brought here; the music thread comes to mind most.
Anyone else thing that Freddy's girlfriend at CTU's ex boyfriend looks a lot like Doyal? Also if 24 comes back for a final 9th season, they should get Eddie Norton as the bad guy. I think that would be amazing
wow. i cant believe the past episode actually filled an hour of time. the whole ex-boyfriend think stinks. im guessing it will be a back door into a "forced mole" type of thing. the guy will get into trouble and then use it as a bargaining chip to save his *** as long as there is no invasion of CTU via the sewer system, i guess it will be ok
I think that 24 is going overboard with the Renee is crazy and a loose cannon. If you really think about it, what happened to her in Season 7 wasn't that bad. I mean her possible boyfriend Larry Moss died, yes, but other than her almost killing Alan Wilson (main bad guy) trying to get information out of him and then getting fired for it. I mean is it enough to drive someone to try to kill herself? Don't get me wrong I like this Renee a million times better than let's play by the rules wimpy Renee last season but the more you think about it, the more it doesn't make a lot of sense. And yes the stuff with the ex-con boyfriend is just a crappy storyline, as is everything with the horny CTU computer geek.
Dumb question.....thinking about going back and watching the first 7 seasons....(never got hooked on the hype when it came out) 1) I understand each episode is 1 hour, and 1 season is a 24 hour straight theoretical crazy hectic day in JB's life. Correct? 2) What I don't understand...Is each season a consecutive day from the prior season? Or at they spread out of an imaginary "several" days, or months, or years have gone by type thing from season(24hr day) to season(24hr day)? I know this is season 8, thus the 8 day so to speak....but its not the 8 consecutive day right?
For question 1, yes each episode is 1 hour real time, so the whole season last exactly 24 hours during the course of the day/season so yes it does get a bit hectic. For question 2, there is usually about a year or so between each season so it's not consecutive. You really should give 24 a try, the first 3 seasons are excellent. The only season that really sucked was 6. And the other seasons are all really good. Also once you read this and decide to watch them, STOP reading this thread and stay away from any spoilers because some of the twists and turns are great.
I think the implication is what happened last season stacked on top of what she went through undercover with the Russians is what sent her over the edge. I thought they did a great job with that storyline last night. It was pretty tense stuff. I, too, loathe the Katee Sackoff storyline, but they made it incrementally more plausible last night by pointing out her legal troubles came while she was a minor. Still, it sucks.
Yeah its possible regarding everything between last season and her past with the Russians could help aid that. However I will say that last season she was fine and was a 'by the books agent' who got mad at Jack because he slapped a guy around trying to get information out of him very early in season 7 not to mention everything Jack did that wasn't legal. Obviously the writers are re-writing her backstory so it fits into this season's story but it's kind of a plot hole if you think long and hard about it. It really doesn't take away my enjoyment of her or the storyline this year since they're trying to turn it into a Renee is just like Jack now thing but I just thought I'd share my thoughts about it.
When they showed the coming attractions for next week, the look on Renee's face when Vladimir told her to come to him shows that it definitely was what she went through with him the first go-round that caused her to become suicidal.
I don't know about that, I mean the stuff that happened with her and Vladimir happened over 5 or 6 years ago, sure maybe there are underlining issues with her that she never dealt with or resolved but she was fine last season being the 'goody good' I only do things that are by the book. You'd think something like that would push her to be more heartless. Again I think the writers are filling in the blanks with her past that don't really tie in or add up to the things were already know/knew about her in the past, hence why I feel that it is somewhat of a plot hole (though it doesn't take away from my enjoyment of the season or storyline). I also think the look on her face is her not wanting to do something she's going to be forced to do.
I hate to say it but Freddie Prinze Jr is pretty good in this show so far. His character isn't bad at all, maybe because he hasn't crossed Jack yet. This episode was so-so. Next week's looks pretty good though.
I agree on Freddie but I think Freddie will play good cop & not cross Jack. You just don't **** with Jack & get away with it. I disagree, I thought tonight's episode was intense. I hated it when the hour was up. I honestly thought Jack was going to do some kung fu **** or pull (Marcus from Underworld) to cover him from the henchmens but sniping them was the right thing to do. Can't wait for next week's episode & Renee is immensely hot.
like i said before, the main thing i like about Freddie is they are not forcing us to like him, and he is not on our screen the whole show, so when we see him, its refreshing! I hope they keep it up with him!
I usually PVR 24 and watch it in about 45 minutes I watched Monday's show in about 38 minutes because I skipped scenes with the blonde and her ex.....It made me like the season again I love how Jack is not the end all and be all As far as Renne....maybe last year triggered everything she was holding in from her past....You never know what might trigger someone down to the depths of depression
I think the writers are slowly starting to phase out Jack as the top guy and are using Renee and Cole Ortiz (FPJ) as his replacements just in case Kiefer doesn't come back for another season, if there's another season. I actually really wouldn't mind Jack being the head of CTU again and him just staying in office until the final couple of episodes. For some reason I'm not liking Jack as much as I had in the past especially this season and all of last season once he got sick and actually found myself rooting extremely hard for Tony. I feel like his character hasn't been the same since the end of Season 5, and let's face it Jack is probably in his mid 50s right now time wise, so how much more could he really take.
