That is a good one. Karim Abdul Jabbar is another good one.

People, myself included, love to complain about certain players.

What did we expect. He's not gonna rag on a guy under contract. Front office people are rarely honest to begin with.

Does not matter if it's pre-season or not, Sparano can sometime give the impression that someone is doing well enough to stay on the team. He said it about Eric Green. I actually thought (initially) he was going to start opposite Will Allen. I was not the only one with that same sentiment. He was practicing with the starters for a good portion of his time here. Here's what Sparano had to say about him:

"Eric's done a nice job. He's at that position right now where he's competing. From a rep standpoint, they're all getting pretty good work out there. I've seen him make some pretty solid plays. I think he's handling it pretty well."

That was August 7th. By August 20th, he was cut.

Sparano said Roth was "really impressive" during some of his plays against Tampa Bay last year. Two weeks later, he was released.

Dan Carpenter (although not cut) had a respectable rookie season. What does Sparano and Co. do? Welcome in Connor Barth.

Sparano can be a hard read sometimes, especially when it comes to his players. Now, this has NOTHING to do with Jeff Ireland except only that this might be a case where Ireland credits a player without throwing him under the bus via the media. That's basically to what I was referring.....

** Now if you were just referring to the terminology used (being "cut" or "released"), then you are just being picky.**

I kinda feel you on that, except I was a student at Ole Miss at the time and I wanted Miami to take Patrick Willis......really badly. I think the understatement of the decade was that all of Miami fans were really surprised with the pick. It stuck out in my mind so much that I actually remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news. Scary.....

I don't know if some of you realise this or not...

They (Ireland, Sparano, Parcells ect...) can not talk trash on a player. If they do they lose potential value on a trade or really disappoint the rest of the team by smack talking a guy to the media when he can't even be there to defend himself.

So lets fire the whole damn FO and coaching staff for not saying a guy is a piece of doo.

Get over it. He is here until we get rid of him. But don't hate on our front office, they didn't draft him.

well the only thing I heard was we are drafting linebackers  It was subliminal so not everybody could hear it. when Irealnd said "Ted Ginn is a player I like very much,'' what I heard is "there is a good chance we draft Rolondo McClain or Jerry Hughes." When he says "‘You know, I’ve just got this feeling he’s going to spark us somehow, that he’s going to make a big play" what I hear is "Scott Norwood in the 2nd round is a definite consideration as is Sean Lee in the 3rd"

no needd I remember that one too. what i heard when he said that was "we are thinking of constituting a team rule where the wide receivers are forced to spit polish the cleats of our linebackers before each and every game. Unfortunately, first we have to get linebackers worthy of shiny cleats?" pretty sure thats what was said verbatim.

We need to get Al Davis while he is on a morphine drip and trade Ted Ginn for Louis Murphy.

Let's just say that Ted ends up having a Pro Bowl season next year. 1,000+ yards and something like 10 touchdowns. I'm not saying he will or won't. But how many of you are still going to want to see him go if he performs better next season? I have a hard time believing that he won't improve and play up to his potential.

Part of me just wants a clean break from Ted Ginn - just start over fresh from that horrible, horrible, 2007 Draft. Seriously - was Cameron and Mueller's best pick literally Brandon Fields? A clean break might just do Ted some good.

Another part of me thinks that Ted Ginn is so frustrating because he does flash talent at times, but for the love of all things Dolphins, please bring in someone to play across from him, but here's my caveat - not at the expense of getting the opportunity to draft a Derrick Morgan, Rolando McClain, Brandon Spikes, etc. in round 1.

I'd rather sign Brandon Marshall or Antonio Bryant, but not if Vince Wilfork really does hit free agency. The defense needs a lot more work than the offense at this point and I can stomach another year of Ted Ginn on the roster if it means we've got a Vince Wilfork or a Rolando McClain or both (hey, I can dream right?).

But if Wilfork isn't a free agent and you don't have a shot to get one of those guys (Morgan, McClain, Spikes) then give me Dez Bryant and perhaps a Jason Avant over Ted Ginn.

I think we're going to look at a WR in free agency and if we cant get one maybe revisit WR in the 3rd or 4th round when a player like Danario Alexander or Demeryuis Thomas or Jacoby Ford could be had. I dont see this regime ever spending a first rounder on a WR. Its like a priest buying condoms

You're probably right. And even I have a hard time seeing how Morgan, McClain and Spikes would all be gone before the 12th pick, but if they were I could stomach Dez Bryant at 12.

I do think they've got to revisit the WR spot a some point and would definitely like Thomas - can't say I've seen much of Alexander.

I think an up-and-comer like Jason Avant from Philly could be on the radar as well.

I never said he wouldn't but the idea that he is top notch returner putting him with the likes of Josh Cribbs and Darren Sproles is a bit much IMO.

If you look at the last two years minus the Jets game his average is something below 22 yrds a kick return, hardly top notch at all.

well if theres no cap, it wont be about who the gm is. it'll be about Stephen Ross and how much he's willing to pay.

the gm still has a job, technically, but it'd be more about finding the guys willing to sign for what Ross is willing to pay than talent.

If you take away Cobbs' best two returns over the past two years he's sitting at 18.8 yards per return. Perhaps the bigger problem lies with our ST unit/coaching than with Ginn.

Ginn obviously isn't as good as Cribbs, but that's hardly an indictment IMO.

It should be much better, that I agree, but if it does improve next year I still would want Cobbs mostly because he runs kickoffs with an attitude especially when he hits the holes, the problem with Ginn right now is his confidence is so shoot it has affected his return game to the point he has become so passive when returning kicks.

I hate to say this but I honestly think he afraid of the game now.

And Brother, there is no chance I spend the next 8 months defending Ted Ginn jr, BTDT, he sinks or swims on his own and at this point arguing over Ginn.

What I suspect is he will be told if he wants to play he has to win the kick returning job over Tristan Davis and Grice Mullin and probably a couple of other guys we bring in.

I wouldn't say that, if they can reach Ginn he could still be a dangerous element to our game and I am sure they realize WR's can take longer to develop, but with all being said I would be mildly surprised if they bring him back next year.

It's all politics, Ireland obviously can't come out and say Hey Ginn sucks we all know it! He has to talk him up for alot of reasons, we have such a financial commitment tied up in this guy i'm sure if someone would take his contract off our hands they'd trade him in a second just because the money is not worth the gamble. If this does turn out to be an uncapped year it will be interesting to see what happens I think that is the only way they would dump him and even still they are going to try and talk him up best they can in hopes someone would take him off our hands.

I think if they just stuck Ginn as return man and replaced him as a reciever he would probably do much better problem is that is a heck of alot of money to pay a return man so I doubt they would ever do that.

It's a tough situation to be in on the one hand you can dump him in an uncapped year and be done with it (If the owner will go for it), on the other it may not be an uncapped year and you have a player taking up 20 million dollars worth of cap space for the next few years that noone else wants...what do you do? Certainly the last thing your gonna do is start being brutally honest about his flaws...as for the rest I have no idea...just makes me glad i'm not in Ireland/Sparano/Parcells shoes.

I'll tell you this much. I'd rather have Ted Ginn then blast a pick on a second round WR when our defensive front is falling apart at the LB positions and we're in a desperate stage of trying to recreate the defense.

I don't see any reason to dump Ginn for nothing, we aren't better at WR by dumping Ginn. We can still upgrade the position and keep Ginn, he's valuable as a return man and a deep threat. If he has another down season by all means move on but unless someone trades us a decent pick he's worth keeping.
