Could sorta see it coming, when Ruskell made the terrible miscalculation that Walter Jones the perenial all pro Left Tackle would comeback from microfracture surgery, and he didn't, and they had no real plan B, the writing was on the wall. Seattle has some talent, but most thought they wouldn't make a move as Paul Allen the owner is fighting cancer and is in serious jeopardy of not winning.
Ouch. But then again I never thought he was that good of a coach and, and bringing him in as the DC and telling him he would be the HC the year after wasnt a good move.
The Seachickens are an oddly run franchise, I think they really wanted Holmgren to come back, but they would not allow him to run the show so he passed and chose the Browns. 2 #1 picks, the #6 and the #15, the new regime will have something to work with there.
On the same day the Seattle Seahawks surprisingly dumped coach Jim Mora, word has emerged that the Seahawks are plotting a run at USC coach Pete Carroll. Per Chris Mortensen of ESPN, Carroll is the primary target. And Carroll reportedly is interested.
Why did they fire Mora Jr, because he didn't make the playoffs in his first year? Playoffs? Playoffs? Are you kidding me? Playoofs? That is the reason? Playoffs? Playoffs?
You're right, padre they are oddly run. What's strange is Mora and Carroll both have had similar results in the NFL. I think they're taking a big risk. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/MoraJi1.htm http://www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/CarrPe0.htm
I heard on KGO SF sports talk that some of the players hated Mora Jr & that fact he is like his old man in the sense of being honest & ripping the players in front of the media. Didn't he call out his players & said they were playing soft or something like that?
Hindsight being 20/20 and all it's starting to appear Holmgren was the only thing holding that franchise togethor.
