    Back in Miami
Every year just makes the accomplishment more impressive.

I'd like to point out something many forget that the Phins went undefeated with their backup QB starting for most of the year as well.

Which of the top teams in the NFL today do you think could pull off going undefeated with their backup QB?

Great accomplishment and something to be cherished by Dolphin fans.

Now if we could get our current team on track.......

Gotta hand it to Shula at least he had the stones to go for it. Glad the Colts lost and we get to keep things perfect.

Congrats to the 72 phins for keeping their record intact (not that they did anything today to help lol)

However, the shame in all of this is the colts basically threw the game, and even worse, the Jets and their fans will actually think theyre good for beating the "undefeated" colts, and for making the playoffs...

    :pity:

I would have prefered it if the Colts fought instead of caving.

this is year two of a four year rebuilding process & we are already posed to make a run

At least we have one high note to celebrate today. For one day and one day only, I say, "The Jets won! Wooohooo!"

    Darn that hurt....grats '72 Dolphins.

If the Colts end up winning the Super Bowl then it'll be hard for me to care too much about the 72' team anymore. I have no doubt the Colts would have won if they played the Jets like it was a Week 1 game and same thing if they lose to the Bills next week. I know what the 72' team did was special and it's not their fault the Colts decided to do what they did, but for a team to be able to do it and say, no thanks... it just makes it harder to care about that last team losing a game anymore. Now if the Colts lose in the playoffs, which there's a good chance that could happen, then everything I said doesn't matter.

Doesn't work that way....the '85 Bears fans also know if only for Marino and how they claim their D had a bad game they too joined the '72 Dolphins....the NE PATS fans know, if they didn't lay an egg vs NYG in SB they too would have joined the '72 Dolphins.

Nope, move along....spilt milk, either you are, or you aren't forever! No take backs.

Steak Knives are not for CLOSERS!

Any its silly for fans of this FRANCHISE to even think about looking down on what '72 UNDEFEATED CHAMPIONSHIP team accomplished. As the years go by, its more and more special, not less and less deserving. Sheesh, this is why ROME collapsed, why USA is not the great Democratic republic it once was.....years remove the knowledgeable and replace them with apathy. Sad how age does not equal wisdom if you weren't around to SEE, SMELL, HEAR, TASTE, COMPREHEND exactly what this '72 squad did.....PERFECTION.....think about that...PERFECTION.

Sorry, POPULATION 1 for a reason.

My hope is one day, the current Miami Dolphins squad joins them @ 19-0 if only for one thing....so many of today's fans will have a chance down the line to watch a new generation claim, decades later, it was a joke, who cares, I only care about current team, what have you done for me lately....and you can rightly and often tell them to wake up and be proud.

For me I can't compare those with this past Colts loss. You have this heralded defense in the Bears playing hard and just getting lit up by a legend, and with the Pats you have them playing in a memorable Super Bowl and Tyree making that famous catch. This was the Colts at home playing Sanchez and the Jests, then basically saying we don't really care about staying undefeated. If you can lump the three together then that's fine, I'm just saying my mind isn't able to. And this just assuming the Colts win the rest of their games and you look back and say if they cared about it they could have had it, which I'm not sure the Colts will be able to do.

I worded my original post somewhat wrong, I didn't mean to say I wouldn't care about the 72 team anymore. I did say it's special and it's not their fault, and it is a remarkable thing. I also realize my age and not having seen the undefeated team play, plays a role in the importance I place on it. But on Sunday I watch the Miami game, then checking scores I will look to see what the Panthers did, what the other AFC East teams, what the AFC teams who are fighting for playoffs against us did, then if the undefeated team(s) lost. When I saw the Colts score it took a tiny amount of the pain away from the Houston loss and I was happy, then I saw how it happened and it rained on the parade some. As Miami fans we love the undefeated 72 team and cheer for it never to be done again, except for another Miami team. Then for a likely candidate to say meh, whatever. It just took the fun out of it for me. This all purely knee-jerk reaction to week 16 and this season. New England recently did try to do it and failed, and teams in the following years may try to do it and fail. If another team has a similar situation next year and send the message they don't care about a perfect season, I'll probably feel the same. Just my two cents.

I hear ya....BUT.....I expect other franchises to "claim they dont care" its not easy. They copout, They make excuses, They know they will most likely fall short and be dissapointed.

I say fine, you cant take the heat, the pressure, then fold up like a $2 suitcase....LOSERville has lots of homes...pick one out.

But PERFECTVILLE only has 1 mansion. Works for me.

We never ever should for all the reasons you list expect less from our Franchise....hell, it aint easy. It takes "No quit" to accomplish it.

Other franchises are weak for a reason and have never accomplished it for same reason. I will always, always, always root that all other Franchises pull a fetal position and give in......its more and more special for that reason alone.

Our franchise doesnt go into fetal position!!!!!!!
