    Sorry Opie. She may pull out of it, yet. My secretary had a grandma they thought was going to pass away about every 4 months - she lasted probably 6 years like that and between visits to the hospital was able to recuperate and live independently.

    On the other hand, 86 is a good long life man. After the storm down here (Katrina), there were a lot of people who, really, just gave up because they were tired, even though nothing was really wrong with them other than facing the momumental task of rebuilding. Sometimes old folks just get tired and they're ready to move on.

    Thanks again all. She's still hanging on, but doesn't have a real good quality of life, so to speak, at this time. We've all resigned ourselves to the fact that she probably won't be around too much longer. You guys are great, I told her a bunch of Dolphin fans she never met are pulling for her, she didn't quite understand, but the rest of the family did and appreciate the kindness.

    At approximately 1:20 AM this morning we lost Grandmom. After a long and somewhat debilitating illness she was able to go home to God. Thanks to you all for your thoughts and prayers, she helped teach me how to yell at the TV during games, so the Dolphin Nation got a little weaker for today.

    let's hope the dolphins smack the **** out of the jaguars for your grandmom. hell a super bowl win wouldn't be too much to ask for in her honor would it?

    that'd be one happy grandma in heaven :)

    Im sorry for your loss,my family went through a similar situation about two years ago when my grandma passed at 84. It is a really tough to go through,but know she is in a great place and will always look out for you. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

    Beautiful ceremony yesterday. My mother sang 'Amazing Grace' in the church, I was selected to do the reading in mass, it was the first letter of Paul to the Corinthians:
    We were all together as a family and we were able to say goodbye, with heavy hearts yes, but with the knowledge that she is beyond pain and happy now.

    Thanks to all of you who sent your prayers, well wishes etc.
