My son & I just returned from the local watering hole after watching the Dolphins defeat Jacksonville. Really enjoyed the game & showed improvement on many levels, however the most rewarding for me personally was the performance of Chad Henne. According to my count, the IceMan has had one bad game with three elite potential revealing games. I think Chad Henne made his bones in the NFL today. Regardless how we finish the rest of the season, I believe the QB question has been answered.
Henne made some big time throws today and I'm convinced he'd have had at least one TD throw if we hadn't fumbled the ball away so many times in Jag territory. The one pick obviously wasn't ideal but in all honesty, any good team can afford one pick per game from their QB. Get him some real playmakers and experience and he'll be a top ten QB in no time.
When you talk about "The Ice Man" this dude pops to mind http://crime.about.com/od/gangsters/a/kuklinkski.htm
Henne's greatest asset in the game is his poise, hence the IceMan. he has a great arm & can deliver whatever type of pass is needed in a game & will only improve with time & additional play makers. for me, today he made his bones & there is no longer a QB question w/i the Franchise.
not a bad day today. he tied pennington's record for 17 straight completions, as highest in franchise history.
didn't realize that but it doesn't surprise me without a Franchise QB we go nowhere the good news: we've found him I like what I see, across the board in Miami this year
I watched the game online and was amazed at how many "Dolphin Fans" chirped in that he sucked when he threw the pick. It's like they expect Marino or Elway in their prime immediately. He's progressed well every week and it looked like he had a little more touch on the ball this week. I feel good about the QB position being settled.
don't like excuses however allow for a simple observation both Carpenter & Henne were looking directly into a glaring, low level sun as they missed their targets in today's game (fieldgoal & pick)
as i've advocated all year, the kid has the goods .... and he has been proving that since start #1. the staff is trying to bring him along slowly ... but he hasn't given us any reason to doubt him yet. his poise as a 1st year QB is nothing short of amazing. he is dialed in to our current cast of WRs ... just wait until we can get him a stud WR. TE would be nice, but i think we can make due with what we have there.
Don't know if this guy is accurate, but..... "Henne set the team record for most consecutive completions in a game. He fell one shy of Chad Pennington's franchise mark of 18 set over two games in 2008." http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/football/wires/story/1380203.html
just think two weeks ago most were ready to send henne down the river even the op said he might not be here next season now he is the hero make a decision and stick with it stop being flip floppers
I've stuck by him since the San Diego game. I've been pretty darn confident he's our answer. I'm pretty sure most people were reserved after that game, but I didn't see any posts outside of one or two calling for his head or saying he'll be gone after the year. I saw a lot of posts saying that this better have been a fluke. And after the last two games, seeing him play in a conventional offense and stay on the field the whole game, I think it's pretty obvious that one game was a fluke. He's getting better and better every week, and you can see that the coaches confidence in him is improving as well. Within 2-3 years I wouldn't be surprised if our team was built around an elite passing attack behind Henne's arm.
Not me. I believe in the guy. I think he's gonna be a real good QB. Are there gonna be growing pains? Sure. But, that is to be expected with a young QB. He took another big step in the right direction today.
Not I... never have, never will. Aside from a few around here, I didnt see much of it either. So I'd be careful with saying "most" people around here wanted to get rid of him. That being said, I loved Henne at Michigan. Enjoyed watching him there seeing as I'm a Michigan fan, and I'm really looking forward to be able to watch him playing now for my favorite pro team. It's probably pretty rare in sports for a fan to have a player play on their favorite college team, then for their favorite pro team as well. Im excited for the journey!
bro my bad worded it wrong perhaps i am mega excited about henne too he can make all the throws and has so much poise the one knock i always heard about him was locking in on one receiver i see him going through his reads well now he is beginning to understand how to look the field the arm is there he is going to be special
be it as it may... no one could know anything until it was played out on the field my simple statement to the forum is Henne has made his bones in the NFL & shows serious promise of that elite status we require @ QB this is not a coronation, it is an opinion we have found our franchise QB & may now move on
Yeah, well let'm chirp...if Fasano squares that route off, like it was meant, there is no int, maybe even a completion...that's what was so bad about the play...Fasano seems to have reached a plateau and just isn't getting any better...
Interesting, I don't read the main as much as the club level, but I don't recall too many folks jumping off the Henne bandwagon...I'll say this, with what this kid has shown, if we do some revamping of the receiver position in the off season..it could be real fun to watch this offense...
I don't recall that at all. I recall a couple of posters saying they were still reserving judgment, but the vast majority just said he's a first year starter and you have to expect days like that. In fact, the predominant Henne threads at the time were about how well he compared to the current top QBs during their first year.
He hasn't played a full season and yet I have full confidence in him each and every time he steps on the field. Yes, I would say we found our QB =) Iceman isn't a bad nickname either. I wonder if it could stick lol =)
Well... If ever there was a nickname that absolutley fit a guy....Ice Man...is definatley Chad Henne's namesake. No question its his most obvious trait that sets him apart... The Ice Man Cometh...
I wonder how good Henne would be and could be with an elite receiver and a big clutch TE. We have to be happy that the QB position has definitely gotten better.
Gods can we please get another nick for Henne? Gheyest nick ever. Every time I heard it I think of this douchenozzle.
You have my vote to change the nick... People keep mentioning robot and lazer, what about robot arm, lazer arm, the robot, Roboback.......
imitation is the ultimate compliment Henne is the IceMan & my posting style is catching on who would have thought...
kudos to KillerPhins & the LandShark13 also to the QB that made his bones against Jacksonville: the IceMan
