Try to follow my line of thought for just a moment, here. To my way of thinking, our best/ most advantageous position to trade-out and pick up the optimum picks would be the 3-1, or #65, whichever you want to call it.

My reason? It is now the 1st pick of the Second day. Other teams will have had a chance to re-think their boards and re-evaluate the players who slid out of the 2nd round that they did not expect. Maybe a player slid that is perfect for the Offense or Defensive scheme and they just "have to have" him?

In this scenario, we can pick up another 3rd or 4th round pick, or if the team wanting to trade is out of, say the top ten, a 3rd and 5th or a 3rd and 4th from this draft. If they are say 20th or lower, a 4th from this draft and a 3rd from next year, and so on.

I fully believe that this draft slot could be of real value for us in the acquisition of good, mid-round draft slots that would help in our present and future re-building plans. Does anyone agree or can you think of a better trade scenario for our team?

Very good points, I could see this happening also.

I felt the same way, I posted this thought on FH about a month ago. Just having a hard time thinking what it would be worth .

The possiblilty of trading down is still a strong a probability but time is of the essence.

I still believe that J Jones is enamoured enough with McFadden that he will try to sweeten a trade in the coming days. From the few blogs printed about Jones he seems to honestly believe that McFadden is his Boys missing piece..

Any owner that has actually investigated the perameters of bringing on a guy with pac-mans rap sheet has no quams about mortgaging his teams future giving up draft picks!

If the Tuna can pick Jones pocket in overpaying for McFadden this off season, imo this will be one of the most successful since D Shula was the Phins h-c..

Trading JT for value picks would be icing on the cake!

I think that depends on who's still available. If some team wants to offer two third rounders later in the round and if I feel I have a 2/3 chance of still getting the player I want, I'd do it.

I think it's especially interesting this year because this pick used to be a first day pick, and is now on the second day. There's going to be some pretty good talent left.

I think the optimal trade down spot is #32. Most likely the top tackles will be gone by that point but there will be first round talent available that someone will want. We could pick up a later 2nd and a third (like I have in my mock) and still get the same level of OT with that pick...
if we can trade down the 3rd for a 3rd and 4th, that would be great, too...
The more picks we can get in the first 4 rounds the better...
